We’ve all heard of it: Les Miserables, AKA the greatest book and play known to mankind. And now it is out in theaters, awaiting your arrival. If you haven’t had time to see it yet, or maybe you don’t feel that it would be of interest to you, I highly recommend that you take the time to watch it. It is relatable to all audiences and types of personalities, and I guarantee that you will find some life connection to it.

Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, and Samantha Barks were able to showcase their singing skills quite well in the film, as was Amanda Seyfried with her more tender vocals. Russel Crowe, on the other hand, didn’t provide much of a “jaw-dropping” experience with his singing ability. His acting was, as usual, top-notch, however. If you are going to watch the film to see great musical talent, you won’t see it here. Nevertheless, it is still enjoyable to watch these talented actors both play their part extremely well and sing simultaneously.

Be prepared to cry your eyes out, especially if you have never seen the play before and do not know what to expect. The plot is based on love, war, broken dreams, and sacrifice, so there is bound to be some aspect of it that causes you to tear up. Anne Hathaway’s rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” will send a chill up your spine as she sings about the dreadful life she lives away from her beloved daughter Cosette. A box of tissues may be needed during this scene.

This film will have you thinking about life and love as you exit the theater. It is phenomenal, despite the tears and the uneven singing abilities of the cast. You definitely do NOT want to miss it. Enjoy!
