I’m a Vanilla Scent Girl. Here’s Why.

I think the most important rite of passage isn’t graduating or even getting married; it’s the day you figure out what scent is “your scent.” My grandma always says that everyone has a perfume that is just for them. So I searched everywhere for “my scent,” from florals to woody perfumes, but nothing ever felt like it was meant for me. But the day I sprayed my first vanilla perfume, I knew I had found the one. So why is vanilla my signature scent? Let me tell you.

1. It smells good enough to eat

Vanilla is addictive because of its sugary, almost edible smell. Every time I spray any of my perfumes, I am immediately transported to a bakery filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods. As someone with the biggest sweet tooth, it makes me want to smell my perfumes over and over again. Honestly, it’s super comforting to smell like dessert, and realistically, who wouldn’t want that?

And apparently I’m not the only one who loves smelling sweet. I’ve gotten the sweetest compliments (no pun intended) when I wear vanilla perfumes. I personally love being told that I smell lovely, so that’s an added bonus.

2. It’s never too overpowering

As much as I want to turn heads when I enter a room, I hate wearing something so overpowering that it’s hard not to notice it. I’ve come across so many perfumes that feel too musky or reek of alcohol, which I am not the biggest fan of. I want people to turn around when I walk past because they catch a hint of my scent, not be hit with it the moment they enter the room.

I personally love vanilla because it leaves an impression while still feeling pleasant and inviting on any occasion. To me, it strikes the perfect balance, making me fall in love with it more and more.

3. There’s a Vanilla Scent for Everyone

Vanilla isn’t limited to one specific perfume or price point. Whether you are shopping at Victoria’s Secret, Sol de Janeiro, Target, or a luxury brand, you can find a vanilla perfume to fit almost any budget. The options are truly limitless.

Beyond price, vanilla isn’t one-dimensional. It’s not always just a sugary fragrance, since many brands mix the scent with other notes to create a plethora of new scents. So, even if you’re not the biggest fan of pure vanilla, it can always be transformed into something that better fits your vibe. My personal favorite perfume, La Nuit TrĂ©sor by LancĂ´me, combines vanilla with fruity notes. It may not be pure vanilla, but it shows how versatile vanilla can be.

Hopefully by now, you can understand why I’m a self-proclaimed vanilla-scent girl. Maybe my words will inspire someone to explore my favorite fragrance or even embark on the same journey I did to find their own signature scent. No matter what perfume you end up choosing, I hope it makes you feel as warm and happy as vanilla makes me feel.
