The ‘Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch’ Documentary Trailer Had Me Crying

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

With just a few days before the finale, many Game of Thrones fans are already on the lookout for the next big TV series… but it’s hard to picture another that would amount and compare to the experience of watching Game of Thrones. Season 8 has notoriously divided fans—it’s either the best season yet, or the worst one thus far. There’s no in between. In the words of Cersei:

With regards to how I personally feel about the current season… well, I’ll keep my opinion to myself.

If there’s one thing for sure that us fans have in common—it’s that we don’t want it to end. Now we don’t have to worry about that for a while, because HBO is releasing a documentary that’ll give us insights behind the scenes of the final season. Hell yes.

Titled Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, the 2 hour long documentary will premiere May 26 (9 p.m. EST) on HBO. The film will place special emphasis on the people in the series, along with the various extravagant sets used in the show.

In the trailer, Kit Harrington can be seen tearing up. Showrunner D.B. Weiss can be heard saying, “Here we are at our last table read… It’s like looking around and seeing your family.”

This will be emotional for us all. Just by watching this short clip, you get to already see the amount of hard work and dedication that the crew puts in to this show. It is truly hard to say goodbye to such a cinematic piece. We grew up with these characters, got our hearts broken when our favorite characters died, and we even waited an entire year in between seasons. HBO, please give us anything related to Game of Thrones. Whatever you do, don’t move on from the franchise. Don’t stop, please.
