Cupid’s Cocktails: 5 Girly Drinks To Spice Up Your Galentine’s Day Party This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Fresh off my 21st birthday with Galentine’s Day on the horizon, what better way to celebrate with your girls than with some fun pink cocktails? Whether you like it sweet or sour, strong or subtle, everyone at the party is bound to fall in love with one of these five Galentine’s Day drinks!

Dirty Shirley

She’s classic; she’s your childhood favorite; but now she’s matured into womanhood. She’s a Dirty Shirley:

  • In a cup over ice, add:
    • 1 shot of vodka
    • About 2 tablespoons of grenadine or maraschino cherry juice
    • Top with lemon lime soda
    • Stir well and garnish with as many maraschino cherries as your inner child desires!
Sangria

Roommate won’t shut up about her study abroad in Spain? Make her this refreshing glass (or pitcher) of sangria to transport her back to the beaches of Barcelona:

  • Begin by chopping an apple and an orange into small cubes or pieces. Add your desired amount to a wine glass with ice
  • Add a splash of orange juice
  • Top off with your favorite red wine
  • Mix well
cosmo

This one goes out to Carrie Bradshaw and all the NYC girlies dying to live out their Sex and the City fantasies. Get ready to hit the town by starting your night with your girls and a Cosmo in hand!

  • In a cocktail shaker combine:
    • Ice
    • 1.5 shots of vodka
    • A splash of triple sec
    • 1 shot of cranberry juice
  • Now shake your little heart out like Taylor Swift on her third leg of the Eras Tour
  • Pour out into a martini glass and garnish with an orange twist
Strawberry moscow mule

After turning 21 and finally being able to experiment with buying fun (overpriced) drinks at real bars, I’ve learned that Moscow Mules are one of my all time favs. So here’s a fruity pink twist on a classic; she’s sure to be a crowd pleaser!

  • In a cup muddle until sugars are dissolved:
    • 2-3 strawberries
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Add and stir:
    • The juice of ½ a lime
    • 1 shot of vodka
  • Pour into in a fresh cup, over ice
  • Top with ginger beer
Blended Raspberry Margarita

Sorry, did someone say Cabo Spring Break 2024? I can picture it now: the beach, the sun, you in a cutie little bikini, and this delish blended raspberry margarita in your hand.

  • To a blender add:
    • 1 shot of tequila
    • 1-2 shots of triple sec (or substitute with lime juice if need be)
    • A touch of sugar (until desired sweetness is achieved)
    • Ice until preferred consistency
  • Blend thoroughly
  • Serve in a salt-rimmed glass

After making my five roommates day drink on a Thursday at 3PM in order to test out these recipes, I can confidently say that you’ll be the life of the party if you show up with any of them in hand. So grab your girls and get to pouring!
