Concert Review: 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

HC UCLA was lucky enough to be able to attend one of the hottest shows of the year- 102.7 KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball. We saw Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Britney Spears, Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony, Diplo, Alessia Cara, Lukas Graham and Niall Horan all perform live at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 2nd.  It was truly an amazing experience. Who needs to study for finals when you can experience the heavenly Justin Bieber and Queen Britney Spears.

The show began with none other than Bruno Mars himself. Bruno sang his new song “24 Karats” as well as some of our favorite throwback songs such as “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Uptown Funk.” The crowd really loved singing along with Bruno and I think he was the best person to start the show.

Next up was Niall Horan from One Direction who sang only one song, “This Town.” I was half expecting Niall to stop midway through his performance like Zayn did at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango concert in May, but Niall was magical. Sadly, Niall’s performance was very short and ended quickly. Wish he could have sung longer!

Following the now solo One Direction star was Daya, who saying her hits “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Hideway.” Then Lucas Graham took the stage. His performance felt very long and his songs all sounded very similar, except for “7 Years” which made the crowd go crazy.

Highlight of my night was when The Bachelor Nick Viall came on stage to introduce Alessia Cara! Alessia was AMAZING. She is so talented and I wish we could have gotten more songs out of her. I was really hoping to hear her sing her newest single from the Moana soundtrack, but I’m glad we still got to see her perform “Wild Things,” “Scars to Your Beautiful” and “Here.”

Then we all jammed along to Meghan Trainor’s catchy anthems, “Me Too,” “Dear Future Husband,” “No,” “My Lips are Moving,” and more!

The night continued with DJ Khaled introducing the fabulous ladies of 5th Harmony, who killed it!

Here’s a video of some of our highlights from Jingle Ball:

Then we were all graced by the presense of Queen/Birthday Girl Birtney Spears who stole the show with her sexy dance moves and killer voice. She performed many of her older hits as well as her newer singles as well.

The night concluded with my favorite artist ever- Justin Bieber. Bieber played acoustic versions of a few of his songs and had the entire audience singing along. You never really realize how amazing his voice is and how talented he is at playing guitar.

The entire night was magical. I am so glad KIIS FM invited me to attend. If you want to relive the night, you can watch it on the CW on Friday December 9th.
