Yup, things are getting strange and by strange I mean cool in phone land now that Samsung is coming out with a new “curved” smart phone called the Samsung Galaxy Round. At the moment the phone has only been released in South Korea but I’m sure many outside of the country have gotten their hands on this new breed of smart phone. I am not a tech guru nor do I even have a firm grasp on all the features of excel, but as an average everyday user here are some reasons why I think a curved phone might actually be pretty awesome.

1. It will fit perfectly into your back pocket. It’s all about the angles!

2. The curvy shape is mildly reminiscent of the hamburger phone we all wanted after watching Juno

3. Better daylight readability (less glare)

4. You only have to tap it on one side (“rock it gently”) to wake it up

5. Easier to hold in your hand

6. Increased speed of rotation when spinning phone on table to kill time

It’s hard to tell if this new shape of phone will catch on or will not, but it’s always nice to see something different come out! If this does catch on though, I’m sure we will be seeing plenty of companies dipping their toes into curved tablets and laptops…but keeping my fingers crossed for a flexible bendy phone – a girl can hope.
