A Harry Potter Movie Marathon is the Only Fall Activity You Need

Something about the fall season makes me want to romanticize my life a bit. Maybe it’s the crisp, cool air, the changing leaves, or the excuse to drink something warm every day. Whatever it is, fall is the PEAK season to get cozy, and there’s no better way to do that than rewatching all eight Harry Potter movies.

I’ve made it a bit of a tradition to rewatch the movies every year, and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them. Even after eight years (and counting!), I still get super excited for my favorite scenes, find myself invested in the characters all over again, and of course, get reminded of my very serious crush on Cedric Diggory (who deserved way more screen time IMO). At this point, rewatching the series has become ingrained in my fall routine and is something I genuinely look forward to every year.

Between the candlelit dinners in the Great Hall and the overarching dark academia ambience, Harry Potter is literally fall in movie form. Hogwarts is the best place to spend a chilly afternoon, and the movies have the perfect mix of humor, magic, and plot twists to keep you entertained for an entire weekend. Watching the characters grow up throughout the series makes it even better, and the vibes are just unmatched. Even if you’ve seen the series a dozen times, there’s always a movie or character to look forward to all over again.

One of the best things about a Harry Potter marathon is that it can be turned into a whole event. You can invite your friends over, bake some cauldron cakes, make butterbeer, or put together a spread of pastries and snacks to enjoy while watching.

And, of course, no Harry Potter marathon is complete without having everyone take the Hogwarts house quiz and debate the results. Trust me, it’s 10 times more fun when everyone is just as invested. If you’re feeling ambitious, go all out with decorations and snacks. If not, just throw your PJs on and press play. Either way, you don’t need a 10-step itinerary to have a memorable fall day; all it takes is some good company and eight movies!

At the end of the day, fall is about enjoying little things, and for me, that means turning on my TV and revisiting the wizarding world for the millionth time. Between the nostalgia, immaculate fall vibes, and my delusion that I’ll somehow get my Hogwarts acceptance letter, it’s a tradition I look forward to every year, and I’m definitely not giving it up anytime soon. So if you’ve been looking for a sign to watch Harry Potter, consider this it.
