8 Potential Easter Eggs From Taylor Swift’s Entertainment Weekly Cover

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Recently, Taylor Swift has been teasing fans with clues about the beginning of her new era. With the release of Me!, her latest single and music video, Swifties got a taste of what is soon to come. However, the clues that fans have found in her music video seem to be old news after her recent Entertainment Weekly cover.

Troye Sivan

Several of the messages revolve around the pins of artists she has on her jacket. Fans speculate that either all or some of the artists on her jacket will be collaborators on her upcoming album. After all, Taylor did say that this album will be longer and will include more collaborations with artists.

Selena Gomez

Selena is Taylor’s long time best friend who has come out on several of her tours, including 1989 and Reputation. She even came out the same night as Troye Sivan and sang Hands to Myself with Taylor. Fans have often stated that they desired a collaboration between the two. In a recent interview, Selena gave a hint at a possible song between the two of them on Taylor’s upcoming album.

Drake

In a recent interview, Taylor stated that she is a big fan of Drake’s songs because of his iconic one liner lyrics that people hang on to. She has stated in the past that she would want to collaborate with Drake. However, what has fans thinking she will collaborate with him is the fact that Taylor mentioned that she will name drop artists she will collaborate with several months beforehand in interviews. For example, in a recent Elle article she dropped Brendon Urie’s name before releasing Me! with him. His name is near a “Track 5” pin that has fans believing his song will be the fifth track of the album.

Dixie Chicks

This is one of the collaborations fans believe will 100% happen. In her recent video for Me!, Taylor had a wall full of baby chicks along with a painting of the Dixie Chicks. One of the lyrics in the song is, “there’s a lot of cool chicks out there” which has fans thinking she will be releasing a song with them.

Friends

Moving on to the other pins that don’t have musicians on them…A lot of fans believe that these pins will either be titles of songs in the album or will serve as inspiration for the songs.

Taylor has pins of every Friends character. Given the fact that she might be collaborating with several of her friends, a song titled “Friends” doesn’t seem to be too out of the box.

Game of Thrones

Taylor stated that a large portion of her Reputation album was inspired by Game of Thrones and the drama that always fills the episodes. This could be a reference to how Reputation is still present in her current era. But, instead of using the snake from Reputation she has metamorphosized into a pastel butterfly filled with hope and joy.

The constant battles and venagnace of GOT influenced her desire for vengenace in Reputation. Swift stated “Look What You Made Me Do” was similar to Arya Stark’s kill list.

Awesome, Calm, and I Tried

“Awesome” might just be a reference to the lyrics in “Me!” that state, “can’t spell ‘awesome’ without me.” However, it also has the potential to be a song title. The “Calm” and “I Tried” pins also might be potential song titles.

Law & Order

Taylor has noted how much she loves the show and actually had Mariska Hargitay and Ellen Pompeo in her Bad Blood music video. Although Swifties know Taylor is a big fan of Law & Order SVU and has even said she would like to appear in one of the episodes, the message behind these pins is unclear. It could potentially just be her appreciation of the show or it could mean that the actresses of the show will be in a music video. With Taylor Swift, anything is possible.

Although it might just appear to be a regular cover to an average person, Swifties know that Taylor is too clever not to put hidden messages all over the cover.
