5 Mocktail Recipes That’ll *Brew* Away Your Midterm Maladies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

For those of us who want to have a good time during Halloween but haven’t quite hit legal age, mocktails are a great way to spice up the holiday, especially a few days before the midterms grind begins! Here are a few of my favorite Halloween-inspired mocktails that’ll help bring out the spooky in anyone!

Apple Cider Sangria

Let’s be real. How many of us have seen our friends posting the cutest fall pictures at apple orchards all over Instagram? Apple cider has got to be one of my favorite drinks to bring out the fall vibes in my home. Mix apple cider, pear syrup, orange bitters and a squeeze of lemon to give the classic drink a fun Halloween mock-tail flair. Cut up some apple pieces for garnish and you’ll be all set!

Hot Chocolate and Pumpkin Butterbeer

Is any Halloween party complete without at least ONE Harry Potter-themed treat? This recipe combines seasonal favorites like pumpkin and hot chocolate into one sweet, tasty drink! Combine hot chocolate, pumpkin puree and butterscotch sauce for this extra scrumptious party pleaser that’ll upgrade any Halloween party!

Gummy Bear Goblet

Gummy bears aren’t always on the top of the list when we think of the best Halloween candies we used to stuff our mouths with back as kids. But using these fruity, colorful bears to add some fun into the mocktail world is a great way to feel like a kid again! For an extra bit of fun, coat some champagne glasses with sugar and put some gummy bears on a champagne flute when serving cider to guests to give the drink a nostalgic twist that’s perfect for Halloween.

Passionfruit Potion

Who remembers the love potion from Harry Potter? Ever wondered what it tastes like in real life? This has got to be the closest you can come to “love” when it comes to any type of drink, in my very humble opinion. Give some passion fruit tea (or juice for a more concentrated flavor!), coconut water, cranberry juice, peach schnapps and a fresh squeeze of lime a whir to get this lovely, delicious concoction!

WITCH’S BREW

What is Halloween without the famous Witch’s Brew punch? Warning: the lime green color can definitely spook even the strongest of hearts! Mix together pineapple juice, ginger ale and (secret ingredient) lime flavored jello mix for an intoxicating addition to your Halloween night!

I hope these recipes were able to tickle your fancy and give you all a way to enjoy Halloween (safely) in light of upcoming exams! Good luck and have a magical night!
