If you’re a fan of romance novels, this year is going to be a very exciting one. There are so many amazing books that are coming out in the next several months; between sequels and stand-alones and novellas (oh my!), readers are going to have their hands full. Here are four of the romance book releases I’m most looking forward to this year:

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Emily Henry is one of BookTok’s favorite rom-com authors, and for good reason: she’s blessed us with incredible books like Beach Read and People We Meet On Vacation. Her new novel Book Lovers is about a badass literary agent named Nora who goes on a month-long trip to a small town in North Carolina with her sister. But while she’s there, she has a series of run-ins with Charlie, a book editor she knows (and doesn’t exactly like) from the city.

You can read excerpts from the book online to see if it’s something you think you’d like. But if Emily Henry’s previous books are any indication, this one is going to be a must-read.

Everything For You by Chloe Liese

Everything For You is the newest addition to Chloe Liese’s Bergman Brothers series, a collection of stand-alone novels that each follow one member of a large Swedish-American family as they find love. This book is the first MLM romance in the series; it follows Oliver Bergman (an upbeat and fun-loving soccer player) and his complicated relationship with his surly co-captain, Gavin. When their coach orders them to get over their mutual dislike for the good of the team, they start to spend more time together and uncover an undeniable attraction.

Here are some of the tropes that Chloe has said the novel would include: enemies-to-lovers, age-gap romance, grumpy/sunshine, slow-burn and sports romance. Need I say more? I’ll definitely be counting down the days until I can read this one.

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

Last year, Ali Hazelwood shook up the romance novel community with her amazing debut novel The Love Hypothesis, and now she’s back with another “STEMinist” rom-com featuring an intelligent and accomplished woman. Love on the Brain is about purple-haired Bee Königswasser, who is given the opportunity to lead a neuroengineering project for NASA. Well, co-lead with Levi Ward, her archnemesis from grad school — who begins to seem more and more like he might actually be her ally.

If you’re like me and don’t think you could possibly wait until August to read more of Ali’s work, you can read an excerpt from the book. Or you could occupy yourself by reading the three STEM-themed romance novellas she released this year: Under One Roof, Stuck with You and Below Zero.

It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover announced earlier this year that she would be writing a sequel to It Ends With Us, the beautiful and heartbreaking novel that absolutely took TikTok by storm. Fans have been asking for a sequel that features more of Atlas and Lily’s relationship, and Colleen is ready to deliver. We don’t know too much about It Starts With Us yet, but it will definitely focus a lot more on Atlas and his side of the story — it’ll be like a prequel mixed with a sequel, apparently, with stories about things that occurred both before and after the end of It Ends With Us. October can’t come soon enough!

Release Date: October 18, 2022

You should definitely keep an eye out for these exciting romance releases. My advice is to preorder the books so you can get your hands on them as quickly as possible — that’s definitely what I’ll be doing. Happy reading!
