10 Spring Fashion Trends You Have To Follow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

You know what they say, April showers bring May flowers and cute, new fashion trends. Even if you live in LA where the weather is already 70 degrees year-round, why not buy a fresh spring wardrobe? Here are some of the most popular and trendiest spring fashion items that you need to add to your closet ASAP:

Patterned scarves

The best thing about buying a cute scarf is that there are so many ways you can wear it and make it your own. Even if you are wearing some basic colors in your outfit, adding a headscarf with a pattern will make your fit pop off even more. Scarves can also be worn as a top! Style it with a cute pair of jeans or shorts and you’ll be ready to rock the warm weather.

Halter dresses

One trend that I really am loving right now is halter dresses with a fun pattern. Halters are making a comeback and I’m all for it. My favorite is a knit halter dress that can be worn casually during the day or dressed up for a night out on the town. It looks super cute with a chunky statement necklace, and if it’s a little chilly out, you can layer with a solid color blazer. Check out some awesome knit dresses from Verge Girl!

Button-Down Blouses

These are a closet staple and can be worn with so many different outfits. Blouses are a great spring must-have as they can be layered on top of every outfit if it gets a little cold, but not cold enough for an actual jacket. Put one over a dress or even tie it and wear it by itself with a cute skirt or pair of shorts. They are great for a beach day cover-up, too. Whether you opt for a white blouse or one with a cool pattern, they are a great staple to spice up your style this spring.

Wrap tops

Similar to scarf tops, these tops can be tied in so many different ways that are so cute and unique. Pastel-colored wrap tops are so in right now and look great styled with almost anything. Get creative with it and try tying it in some new ways! If you are having trouble figuring out how to tie it, there are tons of YouTube videos like this one where people give some great ideas.

Corsets

20th-century women’s fashion is coming back, but I’m not complaining. Corsets are stunning and super flattering. You could go for the classic strapless corset or even a long-sleeve corset top. Wear it with a cute pair of jeans for a casual look or dress it up with a dressier pair of pants or skirt. Add some cute necklaces too!

Cut-out tops

Statement tops seem to be the move this spring. The cut-out top trend is really bold. If you want to show off some skin, wear it by itself, or layer it for more coverage. The cut-out neck top is definitely one of my favorite trends as it’s not super revealing, but still fashionable and the perfect amount of sexy. Buy some spring-colored cut-out tops that will also work for you to layer year-round.

Floral mini dresses

A new obsession of mine has been collecting cute, patterned dresses. Dresses are so easy to throw on and make a fun outfit out of. Floral patterns have always been a part of spring fashion and this year is no exception. People are opting for some funky 70s pattern floral designs of all different colors. With minimal effort, you can walk out the door in a statement outfit that screams spring.

Matching knit sets

Matching knit sets do not seem to be going anywhere. They make you look put together even if you are just lounging around. Instead of sweatsuits, brands are opting for matching tank tops  or light long-sleeves to adjust to the warm weather. Stay comfy this spring on your Zoom classes with a new matching set!

Bralette tops

This trend is bound to stick around this summer, as it is both casual and cute! Brands are even selling matching sets with bralettes and miniskirts or shorts. One fun idea is wearing a bralette under a blazer as a casual work fit; you can look professional while still showing off a bit of skin.

Anything bubblegum pink

The 2000s color is making a serious comeback in 2021. A lot of people are eyeing the bubblegum Gucci platform slides that may be a bit pricy, but give off major 2000s vibes. Bubblegum pink is the ultimate color of the spring, maybe even of the whole year.

Trends always come and go, but a lot of these trends are very versatile and can be worn year-round. Maybe do some spring cleaning and splurge on some of your favorite spring fashion trends!
