Walt Disney World fans everywhere are ecstatic about the brand new attraction coming to Disney’s Magic Kingdom park, “Tron Lightcycle Run.” Construction started on this rollercoaster all the way back in 2018, so it’s safe to say that the opening date for this ride has been heavily anticipated. Fans and Cast Members alike have been counting down the days until they can board their lightcycle and prepare for a high-speed adventure, unlike anything they’ve ridden before.

If you’re a big fan of the Disney Parks, you might know that this new attraction is actually a replica of the original Tron ride in Shanghai Disney. Because the ride is an exact copy of the one from the China theme park, enthusiasts are eager to be able to experience this adventure at Disney World.

This new attraction throws you right into the world of the Tron franchise. In the dark rollercoaster, you board a vehicle reminiscent of the motorcycle-type vehicle from the movie franchise and get prepared to be launched to speeds as high as 60 miles per hour, the fastest ride Disney World has ever had.

In exciting news, Disney World has let its first group of people take their turn riding the new attraction! Cast Members (CMs) are employees hired to work at Disney parks, and they got the opportunity to ride the new rollercoaster first. CM previews began on Feb. 6 and will run until March 3. Each CM is allowed to book one preview and bring up to three guests with them. As the Lightcycle Run is in Magic Kingdom, CMs of that park got the first chance to grab a reservation for their preview. After that came all the other CMs that work at one of the three other parks.

If you aren’t a Cast Member and are still hoping you’ll get on soon, the good news is there are more previews coming up and Disney has revealed the official opening date for the ride! As soon as CM previews are done, Disney World will start letting Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members get a preview of the exciting new coaster. If you still don’t get the opportunity to ride it then, the official opening date is April 4. Once the ride opens on that day, Disney will use its “Virtual Queue” system, a concept in which riders use the Disney mobile app to get a return time, to let guests on when their group is called.

Personally, I can’t wait to get on this exciting new attraction. I’m counting down the days until I get to head over to Magic Kingdom and board my own lightcycle. Are you going to go on this thrilling new coaster?
