UCFCrushes Twitter Account: That Cute Guy Might Have A Crush On You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Sometimes when I’m crushing on the really cute guy in my class or on my shuttle route I feel pathetic. Like many other people I begin to doubt myself; thoughts of “he’d never even like me” or “he’s way out of my league” begin to cloud my mind. I feel so pathetic that I decide to just admire from a distance and keep it to myself. Mainly, because I’m in college and having a crush can seem really juvenile.

I have had this conversation with a lot of my peers, so maybe you can relate. Although, I know it may sound cliché to say “that you’re never too old to have a crush” majority of the time things are cliché because they’re true.

Just take a look at the “UCFCrushes” Twitter timeline. The account has already accumulated around the amount of 3,500 followers and counting. Followers anonymously post their crushes in the “UCFCrushes” ask.fm account. From there, the tweets are posted for the world to see.

A lot of these tweets are hilarious! Some of them read:

“Jordan Childers, we have biology together but I’d rather have chemistry,” or

“Matt Anderson, can I be your slutty brownie?”

Or what everyone is actually thinking, “I can’t decide if @UCFcrushes is hilarious or creepy.”

Hilarious or creepy, you decide. I do believe that we all essentially can learn something from the “UCFCrushes” Twitter page and that is not to take yourself too seriously. There are at least 3,500 people in college (I know there are more) still admiring others from a distance.

I am beginning to realize that crushes at any age are a lot more innocent than pathetic. They become pathetic when you begin to stalk the person you have a crush on (don’t do it). Take my advice and instead of doubt, fill your thoughts with confidence and go for the gold. You’re never too old to have a crush; someone out there will appreciate you for you!
