Like any millennial female, I only thought podcasts were for “old people” and all about “educational” and “informational” content. I questioned why anyone would want to listen to monotone people talking about boring, science-y things, until I stumbled along the podcast that will forever be dubbed as, “The One.”

“The One,” Straight Up with Stassi, led me to expand my podcast horizons and before I knew it, I was a full-blown podcast addict. Someone better send me to podcasts anonymous because my obsession has gotten so bad that sometimes I rather plug in my headphones and drown out human beings right in front of my face.

Being a 20 year-old podcast lover, population of 1, I have to say it’s getting a tad lonely and I would love to have a podcast clique. So, if you’re sick of hearing ads on Spotify on the shuttle to campus, getting tired of your mom not wanting to talk to you on your way to class because you want to look like you have friends, or you’re trying to get a recap on your favorite TV show that you missed because you had to study, than this is the fix for you. So without further ado, here is my list of top 5 podcasts any college girl would get a kick out of.

Straight Up with Stassi

Previously labeled as “The One,” this will forever be podcast that got me hooked. I’m slightly biased because I watch Vanderpump Rules like it is my God given religion. I’m definitely on #TeamStassi and as podcast listener, you will get an exclusive and intimate perspective regarding the ins and outs of what actually goes into filming the reality show, her opinions on The Bachelor and her rock bottom life moments. She shares some of her wildest stories from almost getting sent to Disney Land jail, to her run in with Kendall Jenner while getting her nail art on.

The Bitch Bible

I stumbled upon this podcast when I listened to an episode of Straight Up With Stassi, when she had her literal half, Jackie Schimmel, on as a guest. The two, having never met before, clicked instantly and I knew I found my next go-to podcast. Schimmel has a dark, refreshing sense of humor that even makes your weirdest and psycho-girlfriend type thoughts seem normal. She somehow makes her bowel stories endearing, is self-deprecating, loves a good scented candle and always talks about her embarrassing, extraordinary stories. She is blunt, keeps it real and sometimes might even shoplift organic vegetables during self-checkout from her local grocery store in Calabasas, California…. Also known as the homeland of the Kardashians.

That’s So Retrograde

If you’re into psychics and feeling at one with yourself, this is the podcast for you. Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari strive to understand themselves, the world around them and invite you on the journey with them. These two get to the bottom of anything and everything wellness, spirituality, astrological signs and good vibes. For an added bonus, they have the cutest jingle that discusses “throwing shade” and “haterade.” What could be better?

LadyGang

I discovered this podcast, previously called the Fempire, through Stassi Schroeder’s podcast. Recognizing a trend? You could say that I’m obsessed. The LadyGang is comprised of Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin and Jac Vanek, with each of them bringing a dynamic and conversational component to their podcast. Each woman in this trio brings something different to the table and makes it easy to feel like you’re their best friend. Knight is TV presenter on The Insider, Tobin is a Hollywood actress, best known for her role as Kitty Wilde on Glee, and Jac Vanek is a self-made clothing and accessories designer. My favorite segment of their weekly podcast is without a doubt when the girl gang shares the highs and lows of their week called “Good Week vs. Bad Week.” These girls will make you feel part of the family by extending their friendly advice and divulging personal stories.

Shane and Friends

If you happen to be living under a rock with Patrick from SpongeBob, I will gladly teach you my ways on who Shane Dawson is. Shane Dawson is a YouTube star, known for his bold sense of humor, controversial parodies and all around honesty. Just like his YouTube content, nothing is off limits in his podcast, co-hosted with Jessie Buttafuoco. His podcast can be best described as an open book. He definitely goes there by disclosing a little more than you anticipated or wanted, makes light of any situation, and has a fascination with Teen Mom’s Farrah Abrahams. He regularly interviews fellow YouTube stars and lets his audience in on an inside look of the YouTube world.
