UCF has multiple services available in order to make sure their students are safe. Compiled here are their services, old and new in one handy-dandy article.
Emergency Blue Light Phones
Located in high traffic areas and parking garage stairwells, these phones call the University Police Department directly, so that help can arrive promptly. For questions about EBLPs, contact the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at (407) 823-6300 or UCF’s Police Department’s Community Relations at (407) 823-0341.
FEMA Emergency Training
The University Police Department has also made FEMA emergency management training courses available on their website at http://emergency.ucf.edu/training.html. These courses help students respond to variety of emergencies, including workplace violence training and how to respond in event of an active shooter. Students can also receive emergency certification here.

The Safe Escort Patrol Service (S.E.P.S.) has workers, hired and trained by the UCF Police Department that provide escorts around campus from 7:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. They can be reached at 823-2424. At any other hour, you can call 823-5555 to have a police officer dispatched to your location.
Women’s Self Defense Class
As part of the National Self-Defense Institute’s (NSDI) Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange (SAFE) program http://www.nsdi.org/safe.htm, the UCF Police Department is offering self-defense classes to women willing to learn. The SAFE program teaches that “90% of self-defense is awareness, risk reduction, and avoiding confrontation; and only 10% is physical; and [focuses] on both mental and physical preparedness.”
