I Decided To Enter My Tea Girl Era, Here’s How It Went

My entire life, I’ve always been a coffee-over-tea kind of girl. I felt as if my taste buds never matured for it, I would live my whole life dreading it, and never get accustomed to the tea-girl aesthetic. However, 2023 is about trying your hand at something new and definitely giving things a second try. This week, that’s exactly what I did.

As I was feeling a bit under the weather this past weekend, I was looking for home remedies to consider as a little pick-me-up. My coffee wasn’t hitting like it used to, and I felt like I needed to change things up a bit. While multiple friends recommended tea, I began to sit with the idea that I could potentially give it another try. I decided to go out and document the different types of tea I tried this week, and give an overall review on how I felt about it. Personally, I felt as if it was an overall success:

Original Throat Coat Tea

This was the kickstarter. It was the only thing that relieved my sore throat for the time being, and it made me question if I was entering my tea era! I stole a few from my roommate, and then it was the first kind I bought when I began this challenge. Its fresh scent and taste didn’t feel too tart or unbearable, and it was actually a really nice aid to help me get through the day.

Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra Tea

My favorite out of the three, this herbal sip was the perfect way to end my night and help me relax. I usually have a hard time falling asleep, and always feel like I need something to help me calm down after a crazy day. Especially because I had had a busy week, and I wasn’t feeling great, this did just the trick. I feel like I’m a bit picky with how certain teas taste, and it takes a while for me to get used to it, but I actually never had a problem with this one, and I quite enjoyed it. If you have a hard time with the bitterness or how strong a certain tea might taste for you, this is a must-try.

Bigelow’s Lavender and Chamomile Herbal Tea

A classic probiotic tea! I sipped this throughout my day and at work, and it was a nice, standard choice for my routine. I would definitely drink it again, but it does have an acquired taste out of the rest that I seemed to try.

Overall, I felt like I opened myself up to a new challenge this week and ultimately widened my drink choices. I was also very grateful to my friends around me who gave me their advice on taking care of myself with certain teas, and how it helped them. This year for me is all about trying new things and learning new ways to prioritize and take better care of myself. This felt like a great way to start that goal off!
