So, you’ve found yourself single on Valentine’s Day?

Don’t worry, it eventually happens to all of us.

Whether you break up with your ex, find yourself too busy for a relationship, or just feel like no one can love and shower you with gifts the way you do, Valentine’s Day can be a lowly reminder (especially for us singles) that there is no bae that will wine and dine with us on the 14th. Usually this time of year you would spend your days avoiding all social outings, and going ghost on social media. Guess what? Your Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be spent Netflix and chilllin’ until you pass out. Turn Valentine’s Day into Single Appreciation Day! Here’s 5 quick tips for a successful, positive Single Appreciation Day.

1. Treat Yourself

Go shopping, buy that new cardigan you’ve been eyeing all week, max out your credit card (I dare you).

You don’t have to spend your whole V-day sulking in your room wishing that a Channing Tatum look alike would come and sweep you off your feet. Shower yourself with expensive chocolates, or take yourself out on a date to Red Lobster. It’s good to spoil yourself every once in a while, why not on Valentine’s Day!

2. When in Doubt, Go Out

It may seem a little weird to be the only single person in the movie theatre, and you may have the sudden urge to break apart couples that are walking extra slow while holding hands in front of you, but so what! Get a group of girls together, go out and have fun! Don’t let the media’s depiction of Valentine’s Day make you envy those who are heading out with bae on Feburary 14th. You don’t have to spend your entire Valentine’s day eating chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream while watching The Notebook for the 54th time.

3. Don’t Worry About Those Who Don’t Worry About You

Don’t be the one to constantly check your ex’s Facebook status to see what he and his new boo may be up to on V-day. Giving attention to those who are not worth it is a waste of time. Whether you decide to be miserable or not on Valentine’s Day, just remember those you are focusing on probably won’t be thinking about you at all. Try to focus more on yourself and what makes you happy.

 4. Love Yourself

Feburary 14th can make us question our legitimacy sometimes. We may have pondering thoughts like why we happen to always be single on that specific day, or focus on all things we think we are lacking. Don’t ever let anyone or any holiday make you feel insignificant. Always remember that you are a queen, and that you will not accept anything less. Everyone has their single seasons, use this time to learn more about yourself and grow. Just remember that one day you’ll eventually end up being with the person you’re meant to be with. So don’t let this holiday rush your emotions or feelings, and most certainly don’t let it lower your standards because you need a last minute bae.

 5. Spread Positive Vibes

Valentine’s Day is not only for those with a significant other, but it can also be a day to appreciate those that you love and admire as well. Take time to spread love and positive vibes to those who make your life a shade lighter everyday. Break the stereotypical image of singles being bitter on Valentine’s Day. Spread love!
