The Rules We Know But Choose To Ignore

There are many rules when it comes to dating.  Most people know them, some follow them, some create them, and others ignore them.  The two biggest rules that most girls choose to ignore are falling for the guy who just views you as a booty call and texting a guy that’s ignoring you.

1. If he only calls or texts you after midnight, there’s a reason why.

The most common scenario is he’s been out with his buddies, had a few drinks, and doesn’t want to lay in bed alone.  So, he sends you a text.  When you get his text you either a) have been out with your girl friends and had a few drinks as well or b) have been sitting at home, feeling lonely, wishing you had someone to cuddle with.  So, naturally you agree to go over his place or invite him to yours if you’re lucky.  Ladies, he’s just using you to fill a gap of where his heart is but refuses to listen to it.  Do not think that he will eventually start to like you.  There is only a 1% chance that he will and that 1% chance is usually just a plot to a romantic comedy. 

The harder you try to get him out of his tail chasing ways the more you will push him away.  So you can either a) use him back and understand your situation and feelings toward each other or b) cut the guy off completely.  If you’re in this situation, you know that the guy that’s treating you like this is a jerk and doesn’t care for you the same way you care for him, but even more so you didn’t need me to tell you this.  You’re just choosing to ignore me, and the rule.  Do not treat his member like it is V.I.P. because it’s not. 
 

2. Don’t call or text a boy that doesn’t talk to you anymore.

Okay, so now you had your fun, want to move on, but you still miss him.  This guy only says hi to you at bars or if he happens to run into you on campus because it would be even more awkward if he didn’t.  If he doesn’t call you during the day or invite you out to get lunch, then he is not interested.  There is no reason for you to get upset or jealous when you see him out talking to another girl or not saying hi to you at all.  You knew there were rules and what you were getting into, so now you have to get yourself out of it.  The easiest way to stop drunk-texting this guy is delete his number.  Seriously do it.  There, problem solved!  Plus how funny will it be if he texts you and you respond, “Hey.  Who is this?” 
 
The bottom line is nobody wants to date a jerk that never responds to his texts unless it’s after midnight.   After all, what did this guy even have going for him?  Probably nothing but the fact that deep down he’s just as lonely as you are.  So get rid of him and make a list of potential suitors and date them all.  Date the artist who writes his own music and plays the guitar, or the hip-hop dancer whose swagger is off the charts.  Go out with an athlete who is really masculine and even looks sexy when he’s sweaty or dirty.  Pay more attention to the guy who is extremely goofy and always makes you laugh.  Find the bad boy just so you can ride on the back of his motorcycle and not tell your parents about it.  Stop looking for love and start looking for your list of boys.  Maybe there’s a guy out there who has a piece of every quality of your list of guys.  Let love find you.
