As the dating game declines as we age, there’s only one place you can turn to see men act chivalrous and fight for your hand in battle. That place is Medieval Times. Some may say it’s cringe and a waste of money to go to an immersive dinner where everything is themed, and you watch men dress up as knights and duel. To that I say, to be cringe is to be free. Adding a trip to Medieval Times with your friends is exactly what you need on the fall semester bucket list; here’s why.
I recently turned 19, and where else would I go to celebrate but Medieval Times? A four-course meal plus a slice of cake because it’s my birthday—count me in. The environment is pleasant, the crowds are hype, and men are dressed up as knights fighting for attention. This is exactly what I was made for.
Now, if you’re not familiar with Medieval Times, let me break it down for you. It’s an immersive dinner show where you enter a big castle, and each section cheers for a different knight with a certain color. Everything is themed, right down to the waiters and food, which you eat caveman-style, without any silverware. Of course, the king and queen present the knights as they do challenges. Basically, for the next hour and a half, you watch these knights ride their horses, fight for their honor, and throw roses to the fair ladies in the crowd. The best place to go when you’re getting ghosted, because if your man won’t, the knights will. Just pretend they don’t get paid to do it.
Still, I’m a Medieval Times girl through and through. I think everyone needs to participate in a little Live Action Role Play at one point in their adult life. College is so serious; the workplace is even worse. Green, Yellow, Blue, White—whatever the color, the fun is never-ending. Personally, I’m a green knight stan through and through. He may be the villain in this month’s story, but I’d put my life on the line for him.
That’s the beautiful thing about Medieval Times: it lets us express ourselves and let loose. Yes, we’re cheering for men in a suit of armor. Immerse yourself in the story and allow yourself to be free. Enjoy your chicken dinner as you fight for your place as a fair maiden with a rose in hand.
If you’re looking for things to do with your friends, I 10/10 recommend a trip to Medieval Times. My friends and I screamed for the Green Knight till our lungs gave out, and afterwards went up and got our pictures taken. Yes, it is that serious. We felt like royalty for the night, and we didn’t think about the stress of class or homework. Medieval Times lets you be a weirdo and pretend life is simple. I will always tell thee to get thyselves down there if thou ever get the chance.
