Everyone is always in search for the latest and greatest way to lose weight.  Remember the Atkins Diet? Or the Cookie Diet? Or even the infamous Kardashian commercials advertising QuickTrim?

Well, there’s another new diet fad out there and it’s apparently not like the rest.  It’s called Raspberry Ketone.  It was first featured on the Dr. Oz Show last week and has been flying off the shelves ever since.

According to a study on mice, raspberry ketones can prevent obesity, and it prevents a spike in blood triglyceride that can happen if you eat a high-fat meal, which prevents fat storage.  According to Japanese researchers, the diet pill boosts the breakup of fat cells.  The drug has also been reported to increase the secretion of a hormone called adiponectin that regulates the processing of sugars and fats in the blood.  According to Dr. Oz, adiponectin is higher in people who are naturally thin.  The hormone in the drug basically tricks your body into thinking it’s thinner than it actually is.  According to ABC News, the compound from the red raspberry stimulates the release of norepinephrine, a powerful brain-signaling hormone, which in turn causes fat cells to break down.

There have not been enough studies to determine if Raspberry Ultra has any major side effects.  However, the drug is related to a stimulant, so it may cause feelings of jitteriness, increased blood pressure and a rapid heartbeat.  Overall, there have been no drug studies on humans, so no one is really sure what they drug’s potential is.  Ads for Raspberry Ketone are claiming it’s “all natural” because of the raspberry ketones in the drug.  It does not have anything illegal in it like ephedrine, so it won’t make you lose weight instantly, but it may work to help you lose some extra pounds.

It’s important to remember that if you try this diet pill, you must listen to your body.  If you start to feel sick or less like yourself, stop taking the drug.  It’s not worth compromising your health to shed a few pounds.

Remember: There is no miracle diet pill out there to melt the pounds right off.  This means that only using the drug and not modifying your diet or exercise routine will not give you the results you’re hoping for.  Eating a healthier diet and exercising while taking the drug are more likely to increase your weight loss than just the drug alone.
