About a month ago, I was honored to be one of the representatives of HCUCF at Miami Beach International Fashion Week. For an aspiring member of the fashion magazine industry, this was a thrilling offer and turned out to be an even better experience than I had hoped for.

Miami Beach International Fashion Week was a five-day affair with various events and shows revolving around emerging designers from all over the world. It is the longest standing fashion event in Miami, and it showcased designers, celebrities and musicians from nearly every continent.

For me, MBIFW was a learning experience. Getting to see how the press aspect works as well as getting a small peak at what putting on a runway show takes was interesting and inspiring.
The week also functioned as an affirmation of sorts. It reminded me that the fashion industry truly has my heart and that, though the journey to getting anywhere in this industry may be a long and grueling one, it will be worth it.

But less about me and more about the shows! Here are my favorite looks from and descriptions of my three favorite shows, but there were many more beautiful looks, so check out www.miamifashionweek.com to see pictures from all the shows.

Fernanda Melo
This show was my absolute favorite. I wasn’t so sure about it at first, because each look incorporated the colorful pattern and was otherwise black, but I came to love seeing them in a new way each time. This Mexican brand incorporated textures such as lace, satin, and mesh as well as different styles to make the familiar combination appear unique.

Marina Banovic
This show was the epitome of femininity. The whole show just took my breath away. All of them could easily fulfill every female’s wedding dress fantasy. They appeared to be light as feathers, which in fact adorned many of the dresses. The detailing was immaculate as well. I was at the edge of my seat trying to look closer at it.

Walla
Walla was the last show we attended, and it definitely ended our experience with a bang. It truly felt like a show to me. It was fascinating and the looks were dramatic. I particularly loved the wine color that was so common throughout the show and the occasional long trains. They made the models appear royal and powerful. I also enjoyed the peplums on the dresses, because that trend is so big in America right now as well. Â
