Every December thousands of college students graduate but are less celebrated than those who graduate in May. No matter when you graduate from college or how long it takes to earn your degree it is a huge accomplishment. Every graduate deserves to be celebrated no matter the month they graduate. Here are some ways to make a December graduation at the University of Central Florida special and celebrate all they have accomplished.

things to do around ucf

Since this might be your last time living so close to UCF, here are a few must-do’s before you embark on your new journey. The first thing on our list is kayaking or canoeing around Lake Claire which is free for all UCF students with a valid student ID. Next, grab a boba or ice cream at Ice and Bites on University Boulevard. You might also take one last stroll around the Arboretum and learn about UCF’s natural history. Make sure to have one last giant slice at Lazy Moon or grab a late-night cookie at Insomnia. Once you’re well-fed, play some arcade games at Arcade Monsters.

Things to do in Orlando

This might also be your last time living in Central Florida if you plan on moving back to your hometown or elsewhere. Here are a few things you can do with friends to celebrate your accomplishments in the month of December. First is a Central Florida classic, ice skating at RDV Sports Complex. This will bring back childhood memories with their snack bar and make new ones with your college friends for the last time. If you’re looking for something a little more holiday-specific, Ice! At Gaylord Palms is a perfect way to make holiday memories. This attraction is specific to Orlando and only comes around once a year. This is a great way to celebrate your graduation and relish in the Holiday magic. This year’s theme is the Grinch!

Your last time being a college student

Unless you plan on pursuing your education past a Bachelor’s degree this might be your last time being a college student. Here are a few things you can do to sneak in those last few college memories. Eat at the restaurant or on-campus cafe that your parents took you to when they first dropped you off. This will give you the chance to think back on the last four years and think about what advice you’d give your freshman self. Go to your favorite bar with your friends one last time before you’re officially an adult. Make some memories and don’t forget the late-night fast food stop. Use your student ID for discounts at the movies or other stores. This might be the last time you get a discount on tickets and merchandise until you’re a senior citizen. Use your college email to sign up for student prices on Amazon Prime, Spotify, Hulu, and anywhere else that offers a discount to students with a valid email address.

I hope this gave you some ideas on what to do to soak in the weeks before graduation!
