Her Stars: Do Water and Air Signs Get Along?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Welcome to Her Stars, the weekly column that answers all of your questions about astrology, romance and general advice! This week we will be covering compatibility between different elements, who is a Scorpio on Stranger Things, and what to do after a rough Mercury Retrograde. To be featured next week, be sure to submit your questions here!

Mercury retrograde just ended and I feel so beat up from it. Where do I go from here? – Anon

As always, Mercury retrogrades can be trying. This one that just passed and ended on August 9 is no different. It doesn’t help that multiple other planets were also in retrograde. It’s recommended that you don’t make big purchases or big travels during Mercury retrograde as it is a time where miscommunication and frustration are at an all-time high. If you went through it, I’m sorry.

However, look at this as an opportunity to grow and to get a fresh mindset. If you recently broke up with your boyfriend, look at this as an opportunity to get to know yourself better. If you recently failed a summer class, look at this as a learning opportunity to sharpen your study skills and prepare for fall. If you recently beefed with a close friend, look at this as an opportunity to either reconcile and deepen your friendship and grow together or to know who your true friends are. Truly, Mercury retrogrades are not meant to be seen as destroying or catastrophic events, but rather opportune moments to grow and be better. Remember: better things are coming and it won’t feel this bad later on.

Currently, our daily forecast for astrology is the Moon is currently in Capricorn and meets with Saturn and Pluto. Essentially, this means that many of us will feel a heavy energy and need to be productive or constantly move. Some of us may even feel anxious at the idea that there are a lot of things we must accomplish. With the planets and Moon where they are, it will feel serious. Now is a good time to refocus and realign your goals. However, do not push yourself too hard and remember to balance work and play.

I’m an Aquarius and my boyfriend is a Pisces. How compatible are we? – Breanna

Well, Breanna, compatibility is truly what you and your boyfriend make of it. This will help you both be present and there for each other. Really, compatibility is just working with each other to understand each other and build trust. I can tell you, though, that often Pisces and Aquarius are compatible. Pisces has an alluring quality that attracts Aquarius, while Aquarius has a dreamy quality that attracts Pisces. You will often have similar emotions and interests. Both signs are often not present on this planet, which is an aspect both find attractive about each other. In terms of interests and hobbies, you will get along very well and have good conversations that help you both feel comfortable.

However, there can be issues when it comes to communication. For the most part, both signs do not like being clear and have a hard time properly processing emotions. For Aquarius, they will disassociate and often not process their emotions at all. This can lead to a blow-up later on if emotions are held in for too long or an inability to understand others’ emotions properly. For Pisces, they will often feel so much that they cannot even pinpoint their emotions. This can lead to them being emotionally manipulative.

Both signs can have a tendency to be so deep in their own head that they’re not present in arguments or conversations. They may feel that they are doing the other person a favor by not being completely emotionally upfront. However, this disassociation and lack of processing emotions can cause huge problems. I’m sure you guys already have a great foundation—you just have to work on communicating. Another really good point would be for both of you to set boundaries and rules for arguments. If you two can work on having good, clear, productive communication that relays thoughts and emotions clearly, there is no reason you can’t work out and be a great couple.

I’m a Scorpio, which character would I most likely be if I was on “Stranger Things”? – Anon

Scorpios are strong and smart. They are elusive and intense. They are also intuitive and very private individuals. If you were to be anyone on Stranger Things, you would be Eleven!

El is very much a Scorpio. She is intense and smart, which can clearly be seen as she’s literally broken out of what basically is a prison on her own. She has a slight distrust, which can be seen when she first initially met Max. However, she is incredibly loyal and loves hard, which can be seen through her relationship with Hopper and Mike. Mysterious, powerful, and strong: just what you’d expect for the scorpion of the zodiac!

The last couple of weeks may have been difficult and trying, but chin up! The universe has a plan and better things are coming! Tune in next week to see what the stars will say.
