Her Campus Celebrity: Nicholas Osler

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

He’s the man with the plan and one of the masterminds behind Her Campus UCF. Our co-president, campus correspondent and resident adventurer. Always zen, always well dressed, always on time. Here is this week’s Campus Celebrity: Nicholas Osler!

Year? Major?

I’m a senior Interpersonal/Organizational Communication major. It’s a mouthful. I know.

Hometown?

I’m from Morgantown, West Virginia. Morgantown is a long way away from the weird part of the state.

When and how did you get involved with HerCampus?

I got involved with HCUCF in the fall of 2011. Justin Gilbert, our current creative director, introduced me to Sara Newton. She was the campus correspondent at the time and got me started as a writer, and eventually promoted me to editorial director.

What do you like to do with your free time?

I like to joke that I don’t have free time, I have Her Campus time. But when I’m not Her Campusing, I’m a huge foodie and I love checking out local restaurants, bars and farmers markets. If anyone ever needs any tips let me know!

Describe yourself in 3 words.

This is a tough one. I would say..

1) Adventurous. Not just in a travel, exploration kind of way. I love accepting new challenges in my career and at school.

2) Punctual. I’m too early for everything. You know that saying, “to be early is to be on time, and to be on time is to be late?” I take that to the extreme.

3) Relaxed. I wanted to say go with the flow but that’s four words. I try to remain cool, calm and collective no matter what’s going on in my life.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?

There are so many places I want to go it’s hard to name one. But I dream of going to Bali. The culture is very laid back and promotes creativity. And the beaches are beautiful. It’s literally paradise.

What are your plans after graduation?

Like I said, I’m a go with the flow kind of guy. I’m not really sure. Things are up in the air right now and I’m at peace with that.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

The above answer can probably answer this one for you. But 10 years from now I would love to be in a big (at least bigger) city working in a job I love or working for myself.

Any advice for underclassmen who want to get involved?

The first step is to reach out to the campus correspondent. And if they don’t get back to you, keep bugging them. If you want to get involved right now, keep bugging me.

Favorite memory from UCF?

I can’t think of just one memory from my time at UCF that was my favorite. Just having the opportunity to come to Florida for school was so humbling that I think the entire experience has been my favorite. I wouldn’t trade these past four years for anything.

Favorite Her Campus UCF memory?

My favorite HCUCF memory is definitely College Fashion Week Orlando. We had such a great time with some of the girls from the national office. It was great to see all of our hard work pay off and be celebrated with such a huge event. I’ll never forget it.
