This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Matt Paule is not only our new Real UCF Guy. Along with writing for Her Campus at UCF, writing for The Odyssey, and representing a plethora of companies, he is a stand-up comedian. He’s performed at the Gotham Comedy club in Times Square, in Saint Louis, Kansas City, Pensacola, Miami, and he performs locally here in Orlando. When you’re not reading his articles, check him out at one of his shows!

Q: What made you want to become a comedian?
A: I was always that kid in class that would act up every single day and get in trouble with the teacher. But it was always hard for the principal to write me up whenever he was laughing from what he heard I did.

Q: What comedians inspire you?
A: Jerry Seinfeld is easily my favorite. He literally is the best in the business. Also, I can never keep a straight face whenever I hear Harland Williams tell a joke.

Q: What steps are you going to have to take in the future to be a successful comedian?
A: UCF doesn’t exactly have classes that specialize in punch lines, but the best way to get better is to just keep telling jokes. I’ve attended classes at The American Institute of Comedy in Times Square that really helped me upgrade to bigger venues.

Q: Is there a certain type of comedy that you specialize in?
A: I like to use examples from everyday in my performances. I have two brothers that actually give me a great deal of my material just because of how weird my family can be.

Q: What do your parents think of your aspirations?
A: They weren’t too surprised when I told them of my plans. The middle child is always the one that ends up either becoming famous or homeless.

Q: Where was the most exciting place you’ve performed?
A: Gotham Comedy Club in New York City was easily the best place I have performed. It is where Last Comic Standing takes place.

Q: If you could perform at any venue in the world, where would it be?
A: Hosting Saturday Night Live in New York City.

Q: Do you have any upcoming performances scheduled?
A: On April 11, I will be hosting Delta Sigma Phi and Kappa Alpha Theta’s Greek’s Got Talent. Look it up on Facebook.
