So the week from hell is finally over. You no longer have to run on three hours of sleep, isolate yourself in a cubby at the library, or feel as if you’re overdosing on caffeine. Finals week can consume us in some of the unhealthiest ways. So what do you do once your tests are over and you have basically a month of free time?
With the stresses of school, work, and our personal lives, we tend to sometimes forget about our life back at home outside of our college bubble. Take winter break as a time to go back home and reconnect with your family. Going back home will bring you back to Earth and help you realize that the things you stress out about every day at school aren’t really all that bad.
You should also take this time to relax. Take advantage of this free time to recharge your batteries. During the semester we are constantly busy doing something, and if we’re not doing something, then there is something that we should be doing. Use winter break for some guilt-free relaxation time. Pamper yourself by getting manicures and pedicures, go to a masseuse to de-stress yourself, and sleep in.
Along with relaxing and pampering yourself, try to go back to some hobbies that you are usually too busy for. Read a book, get on a regular gym routine, travel, or discover something you can do instead of sitting in front of the TV for weeks.
Although it is important to get your down-time in, don’t let break bring out the laziness in you. Soon enough, you will have to get back into the daily grind. Start looking into things that you will get involved with next semester, make sure your schedule is set for spring, and be ready to tackle the obstacles that await you!
