Everything You Need to Know About Universal’s New Theme Park

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

If you’re an avid Universal Orlando Resort goer, like myself, you have probably heard that they are opening a new theme park in summer 2025. Epic Universe will be the home of some major intellectual properties like Harry Potter and Super Nintendo World. Although Universal Orlando Resort already hosts some fan favorites, this new park will introduce us fans to some new IP’s to enjoy (extra brownie points for NBCUniversal).

Now with it being a new park and all, we do not know much but we have a good bit of information to get us excited about what is to come. Here are the different worlds coming to Epic Universe:

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic
  • Super Nintendo World
  • How to Train Your Dragon
  • Dark Universe
  • Celestial Park

With these five-themed lands, we can only imagine how remarkable the rides are going to be. So far, we know about the different lands and that there will be more than 50 attractions and experiences to embark on as well as the fact that each land will have a portal to enter through. If we combined Universal Orlando Resort and Islands of Adventure, Epic Universe would actually be larger than those two lands combined. Kinda crazy right?

If that hasn’t gotten you on the Epic Universe fan train yet, then let me explain the themed lands a little more…

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic

Set in the British Ministry of Magic, this land will allow fans to walk through the same walls that Harry Potter and Hermione Granger walked through many times before. We will also be able to walk the streets of 1920s Paris as seen in the Fantastic Beasts films.

Super Nintendo World

Wrapped up in one land are the Mario Kart ride, Yoshi ride, and the Donkey Kong roller coaster. Fans will be able to line up at Peach’s castle and the Mushroom Kingdom courtyard to take pictures and meet some of the popular, fun-loving characters seen in the video games. And let’s not forget, Toadstool Cafe where there will be savory and sweet food items to grab!

How to Train Your Dragon

Journey into the world of Toothless and Vikings, fans will be able to do everything from riding a coaster to taming a dragon yourself to watching a live stage show. What more could one want? Oh wait, I know! Meet Toothless himself! Here you will also be able to do that as he will be seen poking his head out of many of the buildings throughout this land.

Dark Universe

My personal favorite and the land that I cannot wait for is based on Universal Classic Monsters. Revisit the reimagined classic monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, and other unknown characters for year-round terror and chills. As a lover of Halloween Horror Nights, this is where I will be spending my summer nights when I need a good scare, or feel the need to meet one of my favorite monsters.

Celestial Park

Finally, there is the front of the park where guests will be able to take a cosmic journey. A new ride, Starfall Racers, will be on the eyes of many as it closely resembles the old Dueling Dragons ride that many of us fans have longed to get back. On top of that, we will also be able to take mouth-watering trips through the many restaurants designed, such as The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant.

The summer of 2025 cannot come quickly enough and I know many of you can relate to that feeling. But just because we have to wait, that doesn’t mean we can’t plan our outfits and get our bags ready… just kidding… maybe… But seriously, with all the new lands coming, summer 2025 will be one to remember. Take this as a reminder to rewatch some of the movies and replay some of the video games to prepare yourself for living it. It’ll be hard to tame a dragon if you haven’t watched how Hiccup befriended Toothless.
