If attending an exclusive album listening party isn’t your thing, than we can’t be friends. Seriously, we can’t be.

This past Thursday, CAB sponsored Bastille’s new album listening party for Wild World and you truly missed out if you didn’t attend. #HumbleBrag, but nothing is better than smooth, hypnotic Bastille tunes, chic, sophisticated band merchandise and free pizza. Basically, it was how I always want my Thursdays to play out. No other Thursdays will come close in comparison.

The second I walked into the listening party for Wild World, I instantly felt at peace. I was met with pizza, free pizza might I add, and was hearing new Bastille music before most of the world. Feeling regal and like I was a member of an elite club, I munched on my pizza as I lightly bobbed my head up and down to the new music. Its been two years since Bastille’s song “Pompeii” took the country by storm, so having been given the opportunity to listen to fresh music from them finally felt like everything was right in the world again.

“Good Grief” is a hit from the start. The pop-y background music instantly put me in a positive mindset. When it hit my eardrums, I felt a smile start to slowly form on my face. Bastille really wanted to set the bar high by listing this song as #1 on the track list and it surely lives up to it being one of the best songs on the record.

One of my other favorites from the listening party was “Send Them Off!”, which immediately had me tapping my feet. It was instinctual for my head to start to sway along with the music, too. The song is calling upon someone to help the main character to let go of their inhibitions and just live life in the moment. The line “Set me free from my jealousy, won’t you exercise my mind?” is so relatable as everyone, from time to time, experiences some sort of inner turmoil that they are trying to combat. Bastille takes hold of this vulnerable state and makes it into an energetic, reinvigorating song.

As a whole, this album does not disappoint it. However, you can’t just rely on my word. Wild World is out, so start learning the songs pronto so you can be ahead of the train!
