Easy April Fools’ Day Jokes To Play On Your Roommates

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Feeling the April Fools’ Day spirit? Want to get back at your roommates for always leaving hair in the drain of the shower? Her Campus UCF is here to help you laugh your way through April 1st with a list of easy pranks to pull on your roommates using things you already have at home! All of these pranks have been tested by yours truly and are sure to be a hit. (Shout out to my freshmen roommates who are featured in this article)

1)      Flip all of their furniture upside down

What You Will Need:

·         Any desk, dresser, chair, trashcan, table, or even their whole bed

·         An accomplice or two to help with the heavy lifting

·         Ample time to move everything before they come home

·         Bonus Points: After you turn all of the furniture upside down, take everything that was on top of the surfaces and place them exactly as they would have looked before you destroyed their room

2)      Tape all of their food to the kitchen walls

What You Will Need:

·         A roll of tape that will not peel paint off the walls (painters tape works for items that are not so heavy)

·         Access to all of their food

·         Bonus Points: Make a statement by writing something out with the food like “April Fools’!” or “Quit Stealing My Food”

3)      Hide all of their left shoes around the house

What You Will Need:

·         All of their left shoes from their closet, leave the right ones exactly where they are

·         Hiding places where they would never look. Examples are under piles of dirty dishes they never wash or behind the trash they never take out J

·         Bonus Points: If you have more than one roommate, put all of the stolen left shoes in someone else’s room so the roommate you pranked blames them! (Two birds, one stone.)

4)      Put cups full of water outside their bedroom door

What You Will Need:

·         Approximately 50-100 paper cups filled with water

·         A clear area outside the front of their door

·         Bonus Points: If you happen to catch your roommate when they are a little ~inebriated~ this is 1,000 times funnier

5)      Flavor their shower

What You Will Need:

·         A shower head that can unscrew from the water pipe

·         Crystal Light powder or Ramen Noodle powder

·         Bonus Points: Put food coloring in the shower head to dye the water an icky color, they will freak out!

6)      Print out embarrassing photos and hang them outside

What You Will Need:

·         Embarrassing pictures of your roommate

·         Full page printing (you can get it FOR FREE with your student ID at All Knight Study)

·         Roommates with a sense of humor

·         Bonus Points: Make a meme out of the picture. Let the hilarity ensue.

7)      Saran Wrap the door so they cannot get inside

What You Will Need:

·         Saran Wrap

·         Tape

·         A door that opens OUT, you tape the Saran Wrap to the door frame from the INSIDE

·         Bonus Points: While you are taping the strips of Saran Wrap to the door frame, blow up balloons and trap them in between the closed door and the wrapping. When they open the door from the outside, they get a surprise attack from the balloons!

8)      Classic TP

What You Will Need:

·         Lots of toilet paper. LOTS.

·         Creativity. A quality TP job is only as good as the person who does it.

·         Bonus Points: After you finish TP-ing their room, put random sheets of toilet paper in everything they touch. Some ideas are their pillow case, school bag, wallet, clothes pockets, laptop cases; you could even tape some to the bottom of their shoes!
