Becoming Greek has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. There are so many perks when it comes to being Greek: making friends you will have for a lifetime, gaining a sense of accomplishment through charity work, making connections for your career, a booming social life, and the one perk that just recently became my favorite, becoming a big sister.

My Big/Little Reveal was last week, and it was definitely a great way to end off my week! Even though it became stressful because you are at Michael’s at least once a day, you’re juggling fake Facebooks, trying to track down the t-shirt guy from Amazon Village, tagging your little’s car hoping she won’t see you, convincing cute frat boys to go deliver gifts to your little in a speedo, and crafting your life away, on top of school or even a job, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Big/Little Week will probably be one of the best memories I will hold onto about my college years. If you’re about to go through your sorority’s Big/Little Week, here are a few tips to keep you sane:

1.      If you think you’ll need it, buy it. Chances are you’ll use it. Keep your receipts and if you don’t use it, then go and return it when the week is up.
2.      Try and get together with some other new Bigs to buy paint and brushes, so you can save money and craft together.
3.      When in doubt, give candy. If you feel like you’re gift for the day needs a little something extra, buy your Little’s favorite candy and include that in the gift.
4.      Make sure you are EXTRA, EXTRA careful when juggling your Facebook account, as well as your Little’s fake Biggie Smallz page. You wouldn’t want to give up your identity and have your little figure you out.
5.      Don’t have an album (or make your album private) on Facebook from when your Big made your crafts if you’re going to take ideas from your Big’s crafts to do for your Little. Your Little will creep and start putting two and two together!
6.      Prioritize your time! Crafting will take a lot of time, so don’t leave everything for the last minute!

A big sister is someone who will listen to your every word, someone who will guide you through your worst, someone who will cherish you in every way they can, someone who will lend a helping hand. A big sis will laugh with you until you both cry; stay up with you until the sunrise. She will cheer you on during your flag football game and pick you up from your class if it’s pouring rain. Your big sis can bum it on the couch with you all day, or be studying right next to you so you can get that “A.” Your big sister should be someone you look up to, someone who will do good to you, someone who will be your best friend, always and forever, until the very end.
