Back to School Basics

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

I’m sure a majority of us have had plenty of experience in making the Monday through Friday decisions about what to wear to school. In high school, I would imagine it to be difficult especially because of the fact that you were making these fashion decisions in the wee hours of the morning. I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t function well at 6 a.m. Others, including me, went to private school their whole lives and are now being thrown into a world where sophistication and professionalism isn’t defined by khakis and a tucked-in polo. Instead, we get to decide how we want to portray ourselves and, boy, can that be time consuming.

I refuse to believe I’m the only one who can’t keep a clean room solely because having to decide what to wear turns into my closet being emptied of all it’s contents…on my floor. In order to provide for a more seamless switch into college apparel or even to revamp your look if it has turned into a uniform of, let’s say, Nike shorts and a tee…I’ve got nine back-to-school basics and suggestions for ways to make them look not the least bit basic when mixed and matched.

P.S. Check out the additional tips and tricks under each item, because they are better suited for other school activities such as presentations or tailgating.
