Alexandra Lemoine: HCUCF Social Media Director

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Name: Alexandra Lemoine

Major: Marketing

Where are you from? Miami, FL

When and how did you start working with HC? At the end of my sophomore year, I felt I needed to get involved with something on campus to help further my career. I heard Her Campus UCF was having a Zumba event, so I went on the Facebook page to check it out. Lo and behold, they were looking for a Social Media Manager for the fall semester. I started out as a Facebook Manager for one semester, Twitter Manager for another, and will be ending my yearlong term as the Social Media Director in April. Talk about “moving on up!”

What have you learned from working with HC? Let me start off by saying it’s been an unforgettable two years with HCUCF! I’ve learned how to properly market a brand to a target audience (#marketingnerd), follow-up with people, and be a better manager. Ultimately, I learned to be the best CEO (creative, energetic, and organized person) I can be!

What are you plans for after graduation? I plan on jumping right into the marketing scene once I’m back home in Miami. After working for about two to three years, I will get my MBA and move up the corporate ladder. I know I have a bright future ahead of me and I can’t wait to see where life takes me!

What has been your favorite undergrad memory? So many to choose from! One that happened recently was when I taught a Latin ballroom class for the dance club on campus. I grew up dancing competitively at a studio and hadn’t taken a ballroom class in awhile so it was an awesome feeling to be back at it again. Everyone had a great time shaking what their mommas gave them and pretending they were on Dancing with the Stars!

What will you miss about being an undergrad student at UCF? I will definitely miss all the great friends I was able to meet in college, especially those in my organizations. My HCUCF family has a special place in my heart and so does my 4EK (4EVER KNIGHTS: Student Alumni Association) family!

What piece of advice would you give incoming freshmen about the college experience? Be prepared to be out of your comfort zone. College is the time to explore your surroundings and mold you into the person you want to become. Don’t get peer pressured to do ANYTHING you don’t want to do. True friends will accept you for YOU. Mine did!

What advice would you give those that are graduating in future semesters? For sure try to do an internship every summer while in college! You learn so much about your future career with one. It might even help you decide if you should switch majors. With persistence and an open mind, I was able to do an internship every summer and am so thankful for each one of them. I learned skills that I can apply to my career, was able to network with professionals, and made great friends along the way.
