91st Academy Awards Fashion Recap: The 10 Best Dressed Celebrities

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Hollywood’s biggest night has come and gone, but the fashion and acceptance speeches will go down in pop culture history.

The Academy Awards are, of course, meant to honor outstanding performances in the world of film. But while they may give the Oscar for best costume design, we’re ready to give awards to best dressed on the red carpet.

1. Constance Wu

The “Crazy Rich Asians” star attended the Oscars as a presenter since the film was not nominated for an award and there was no host at this year’s show. She wore a graceful yellow Versace gown paired with gorgeous diamond accessories by Atelier Swarovski.

2.  Jennifer Hudson

The actress/singer flawlessly performed “I’ll Fight” at the award ceremony. She dawned the red carpet in a Elie Saab one shoulder structured gown. The dress fit her like a glove, and the addition of nude makeup and nails perfected the look.

3. Lady Gaga

The queen of this award season, Lady Gaga, was nominated for her role in “A Star is Born” and took home the award for best original song, “Shallow.”

Gaga stole the show in her black Alexander McQueen gown and stunning Tiffany yellow-diamond necklace. The necklace was last worn by Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

4. Michael B. Jordan

The real question is whether Michael B. Jordan has ever been on a worst dressed list. The “Black Panther” actor slayed the red carpet alongside his mother in a Tom Ford midnight blue velvet suit.

5. Ashley Graham

Although the model and body-positivity activist was not nominated or presenting, she definitely brought Hollywood glamour to the red carpet. Graham wore a form-fitting black Zac Posen gown. The dress was flawlessly paired with slicked back hair to showcase the beautiful jewels on her neck.

6. Rami Malek

Maybe it was the glow from winning the Oscar or from the sweat after falling off the stage, but Rami Malek looked very dashing in his Saint Laurent tuxedo. It may have not been the most outrageous fit, but it was well-tailored and simple which made it look even more timeless.

7. Michelle Yeoh

Also a “Crazy Rich Asians” star, Yeoh brought total Eleanor Young vibes from her role as the, well, crazy rich mother in law. The Elie Saab piece featured a gorgeous neckline as well as futuristic chrome detailing.

8. Serena Williams

The tennis star wore a form-fitting gown that made sure to show off her amazing muscles. Her gown was custom Armani Prive and featured a stunning ruby neckline we didn’t even know we needed.

9. Regina King

The Oscar winner brought utter elegance to the red carpet. Her white Oscar de La Renta gown is probably one of the most beautiful dresses she has ever worn on a red carpet.

10. Ben Hardy

Also a vision in white, the “Bohemian Rhapsody” star made the tricky white tuxedo look effotless. The actor wore Emporio Armani when walking down the red carpet.

This year’s Oscar ceremony not only brought back vintage Tiffany jewels a la Gaga, but also an extra dose of fabulously dressed celebrities to help present awards at the ‘host-less’ Academy Awards.
