During the past year, I’ve had more free time to read. And, being a person who loves picking up a good book, here are some I’ve been enjoying this year. If you’re like me and love to read, then you’ll love my list of book recommendations.

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

Serpent & Dove is a story set in a magical world filled with witches and witch hunters. In this novel of forbidden love and secrets, the readers get to follow Louise — a witch who left her coven and went into hiding. Louise makes a mistake that forces her to marry a man set on burning any witch he sets his eyes on. Will her secret be discovered by him, or will she live quietly with her new husband?

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

Nora wants to die and she isn’t hiding it. But when she tries to take her life, she appears in the midnight library — filled with all of life’s possibilities. With each book being a different life she could have lived, Nora must pick one and dive in. And maybe she’ll realize that she didn’t really want to die after all.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Set back in the ’80s, this book is about two very different people: Eleanor and Park. It follows the journeys of these two misfits finding each other. Park, with his loving Vietnamese family, and Eleanor, with many siblings in poverty, meet each other on the bus. And the rest is history!

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Evelyn Hugo — a movie icon from Hollywood — is finally ready to tell her story. The whole truth. Monique is shocked to hear Evelyn chose her for the job but takes the opportunity. Follow Monique at Evelyn’s apartment as she tells her story about her seven husbands, fame and ambition.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

If you love a book filled with strong characters, this is the one for you! When Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, she does everything she can to save him — even becoming a slave. Elias, a great soldier, longs to be free of his duties and will risk escaping to do so. Though they don’t know at the time, both their fates become intertwined in a story about courage and risk.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sara J. Maas

Want a book you can jump into? A fantasy filled with magic and faeries? Feyre has been relying on her hunting skills to keep her family alive. One day she finds herself whisked away into a faerie universe after murdering a faerie. After living with her captor, she develops feelings for him. But, in order to be together, she must break a strong curse.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Mare Barrow has red blood. Seems like a common thing, right? Well, until you add people with silver blood into the mix. People with silver blood are blessed with amazing powers — anything from telekinesis to wielding fire. When Mare finds herself at the palace, she realizes that she too has power — even though her blood is red. If you want to be immersed in a world full of princes, powers and adventure — then this is the book for you!

So, there you have it! Grab a cup of tea and curl up on the couch with one of my book recommendations. I’m sure they won’t disappoint!
