The phrase “Anything boys can do, girls can do better” is the proud anthem of every girl in her childhood until that pivotal moment she realizes that to get her crush to like her back she needs to be impressed by things he does and not always try to one-up them.
Now as we girls mature into women we realize this phrase isn’t true, (generally speaking guys are better at peeing while standing up and/or getting ready in 5 minutes) but don’t despair, ladies, because I’ve come up with a list of things that (usually) we are MUCH better at than guys.
Dressing Up
Not that there haven’t been some incredibly handsome guys on the red carpet (Looking at you: Chris Hemsworth, Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, etc) but keep in mind these hotties have TEAMS of people who’s job is to make them red carpet ready. I’m talking about the average guy who wants to do the bare minimum for a nice event while you’re over here pinning celebrity hairstyles to your Pinterest board and practicing your smoky eye for weeks- not to mention texting all of your best friends pictures of potential dresses.
Selfies
The same applies for pictures in general. Sorry guys, but girls have perfected the art of the selfie (angle,lighting,filter,focus,caption,background) which leaves us light years ahead of those of you brave enough to take mirror pics. Oh, and that super cute “candid” picture we took laughing with our friends? It took us 20 pictures to get the one we liked, but we can assure you it’s flawless.
Understanding Beauty is Pain
I don’t even want to hear a guy complain about having to shave his face or do whatever else a guy does to look presentable. Girls have SO much to do to maintain their appearance. I would much rather shave my face than my legs and armpits with the added bonus of plucking, waxing, or threading my eyebrows all the time. Not to mention professional facials or laser hair removal treatments. Ouch?
Overanalyzing Conversations
Not sure if this is necessarily a good thing, but girls are DEFINITELY better at reading into every single detail of a conversation you’ve had with her whether it be over text, over the phone, or in person. A girl and her friends will obsess for thirty minutes over the tone in your voice when you said “Yeah, sure.” with the outcome ranging between you definitely being a scumbag and cheating on her or you being her future husband.
Getting the Details
“You went on a date with him? Tell me EVERYTHING” ya we really mean it, EVERYTHING. Where did you go? How did you get there? What kind of music did you listen to? Was it awkward? What did you have to eat? Did he pay? Did you guys kiss after? For how long? What was it like? …. Everything. I don’t know what it is about girls but we love knowing everything about our friends lives, especially when it comes to new guys. When you “first meet” your girlfriend’s best friends, don’t worry, they already know everything about you.
Crafting
Canvases, clothing,crates, candles, coolers (and other things that don’t start with the letter C) have all been purchased by countless girls with the hopes of transforming them into something beautiful. Whether this actually turned out like expected or not isn’t my point; the point is we have all tried. Is it some crafting gene in our second X chromosome that makes us want to whip out the brushes and glitter and attack a blank canvas? The world may never know.
