It’s finally the most wonderful time of the year! With the holiday season upon us, there’s no better way to escape from the madness than to warm up with a romance book. I find that this season inspires me the most to read so ’tis the season to binge-read! Here are five books on my list that I want to read next:

The mistletoe motive

The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese perfectly combines everyone’s favorite tropes: slow burn and enemies to lovers. This story follows Jonathan Frost and Gabriella Di Natale; Jonathan is an absolute scrooge who loathes the holidays while Gabriella loves them and is full of festive cheer. They both work together at an independent bookstore and must do what they can to avoid the imminent threat of unemployment. They make a deal that whoever gets the most sales in December gets to keep their job for the next year while the other resigns.

Icebreaker

Icebreaker by Hannah Grace isn’t specifically a holiday-themed book, but anything that includes ice, hockey, and skating is festive enough for me! This reverse Grumpy x Sunshine book follows Anastasia, a competitive figure skater, and Nathan, who is the captain of the hockey team. A misunderstanding causes the skating team to share a rink with the hockey team and a turn of events results in injuries to Anastasia’s partner. Nathan steps up and swaps his hockey stick for tights.

A merry little meet cute

Don’t be deceived by the title! A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone is a fun but very steamy romantic comedy that follows Bee and Nolan. Bee accidentally gets cast as a lead in a family-friendly holiday romance film and her co-star is a former boy band member who was once her teen crush. This book definitely sounds like a perfect mixture of a spicy romcom and a cheesy Hallmark movie!

One Day in December

I bought One Day in December by Josie Silver last year, but never got the chance to read it so it is high on my TBR list this month! While on the bus on a snowy December day, Laurie sees a man who she instantly falls in love with at first sight. Their eyes meet and it feels like pure magic until her bus drives away. Laurie is determined that they will meet again and spends a year going to every bus stop and cafe in London to find him. As fate has it, they reunite at a Christmas party, but her best friend Sarah introduces the mystery man as her new boyfriend Jack.

Always, in December

Always, In December by Emily Stone is more of a bittersweet story so if you want something that is heartbreaking and will leave you in tears, this is for you! Every December, Josie sends a letter to her parents, who she lost on Christmas night as a young girl. On her usual way to the post office dropbox, she collides with Max who is also having a difficult time throughout this Christmas season. They end up spending a few days together to indulge in the festive traditions. Josie thinks this might be a new beginning to something special, but the next day Max has disappeared without so much as a goodbye. Over the course of time, Josie and Max find that fate keeps bringing them together in the most unlikely of places.

I hope you were able to find a perfect book option for you or for a gift for a friend! There’s truly no better way to spend the upcoming months than curling up with a comfy blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and a good book. Happy reading and happy holidays!
