Nothing says fall like lying in bed with a warm cup of your go-to autumn beverage as the weather outside begins to cool. Some people spend the season binge-watching Gilmore Girls or catching up on their TBR. Others, like me, take to our gaming consoles to play our favorite cozy games.

“Cozy games” is a term popularized by TikTok, referring to video games that take more of a calm route for gameplay. Rather than focusing on demon-slaying or battle royale adventures, cozy games offer a stress-free environment perfect for fall.

So, if you’re looking for the perfect wholesome video game to play this season, here are five cozy games for your fall leisure.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a farming simulator that perfectly blends elements of monster hunting, crop growing and relationship building. With its easygoing gameplay and amazing soundtrack, Stardew Valley is the perfect game to get lost in. Whether you want to focus on starting a family with one of the townspeople or making millions off your farm, you have the freedom to tackle the game at whatever pace you’d like.

Stardew Valley is available to play on:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux

  • Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation Vita

Lake

Have you ever dreamed of living the ultimate Hallmark fantasy? If you answered yes, Lake is the perfect game for you. You play as a woman who moves back to her small hometown to work as a mail carrier. Deliver mail throughout the town and enjoy the beautiful Oregon scenery while rekindling friendships and falling in love.

Wytchwood

In Wytchwood, you play as the mysterious old witch of the wood. Throughout the game, you explore a land reminiscent of gothic stories and fairy tales, collect ingredients and brew potions. If you’re a fan of witchcraft and magical adventures, don’t hesitate to add Wytchwood to your system.

Wytchwood is available to play on:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
Bear and Breakfast

Bear and Breakfast is an adorable management game where you play as Hank, a bear running a bed and breakfast in the woods. While it may seem like nothing more than that on the surface, as your B&B grows, so do the secrets of the forest. Hank may have thought that running a B&B would be easy, but he’s soon thrown in the middle of the wilderness’s mysteries.

Bear and Breakfast is available to play on:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Nintendo Switch
Calico

With soft and adorable aesthetics, Calico is the best game to end this list with. In the game, you are tasked with rebuilding a cat café and returning it to its former glory! Collect cute animals, socialize with the locals and decorate your café until customers are filling the lines once more!

Calico is available to play on:

  • Microsoft Windows
  • macOS
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5

These are only a handful of amazing cozy games published by numerous indie developers and major corporations alike. But, whether you’re a seasoned cozy gamer or just looking for an escape, I hope these games caught your attention!
