The beginning of February marked the start of Black History Month, which is all about celebrating and amplifying the many achievements of Black and African Americans and their history in the United States. Black people have made substantial contributions to entertainment and culture and are the blueprint of the many trends we see today.

We should honor Black greatness every month, and as an African American girl living in America, these TikTok content creators never fail to inspire me and also entertain the masses with their comedy. Here are my top five Black TikTok creators that make me laugh out loud in the middle of the night.

@Fannita

TikToker Fannita Leggett has amassed over one million followers for being beautiful, funny and charismatic. She’s also an absolute menace on the app by posting stitch videos that feature other TikTok users. There’s not a day that goes by where we don’t see an attractive person receive attention and follows, but for Fanitta, that isn’t enough. She needs to let that person know that she’s available, and we love that for her.

@original.don

Donae is someone who’s not afraid to be herself online, in her content, and in duets with others. Not only is she hilarious, but she’s also a fashion icon and isn’t afraid to be her natural self. Being so authentic, funny and stylish, it’s no wonder how she amassed over 3.5 million followers. She never fails to make me laugh, especially when she’s shooting her shot at Vinnie Hacker, another content creator, so openly.

@kervo.dolo

Kervin Loiseau, or @kervo.dolo, is the resident Karen impersonator of TikTok. He’s gained over 5.5 million followers for his comedy videos and skits. His Karen reenactments receive 40 million views on average, which is no easy feat. It’s so impressive how his voice can go to such a high pitch and how accurate his portrayal of a Karen is.

@icymahree

Amahree, 18, is one of those TikTokers whose whole personality can be used as memes or reaction gifs, and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not referencing his TikToks to my friends. Amahree has racked up over one million followers for being his authentic self which never fails to entertain his followers. He has since created a YouTube channel that is as equally as entertaining as his TikTok. Check it out!

@ava_tocloo

Ava, also known as cutiethiccckums, should be crowned the queen of comedy sketches. I can’t even keep count of the many times she has made me laugh. Ava is of Ghanian descent, and as a fellow African (Nigerian), her relatable content is what I enjoy the most about watching her. My second favorite thing is her gorgeous hair, which I take style inspiration from sometimes. Ava has two million followers and over 116 million likes, so I’m clearly not the only one who loves her.

These content creators truly have broken the barriers, considering TikTok is known to frequently shadow-ban people of color, especially those of African descent, and it’s important to acknowledge that. Despite these obstacles, many creators of color have gotten brand deals, sponsorships and much more well-deserved support online. Make sure to follow all of the mentioned creators on TikTok, and support other Black artists this month and every month.
