With the arrival of fall, sweaters and pumpkin spice comes the dreaded mid-semester stress. Between classes, work and extracurricular, one can always turn to music for a little pick me up. Whether you’re feeling unmotivated, stressed or lonely, tune in to these playlists for a lift and a boost of energy:

When you need a reminder that you’re not alone:

“No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande

This catchy tune by Ariana Grande can serve as a much-needed reminder that sometimes you just need a change of perspective. After feeling down, Grande sings about how she has reached a state of mind that allows her to live life to the fullest. It’s important not to take life too seriously all the time, so use this song to feel refreshed and hopeful.

“Technicolour Beat” by Oh Wonder

This song by the duo Oh Wonder gives off chill, relaxing vibes. The overall message of the song is feeling comforted, and most importantly, not alone. Even if you’re not in a relationship with a significant other, let this song remind you that you are surrounded by many other meaningful relationships and people who are there for you.

For the mid-semester stress

By week seven, we are all feeling tired and unmotivated and are running out of energy. This playlist is packed with songs that will help you gain focus and get motivated. We should focus on how much of the semester is left, but also be reminded of all we’ve endured.

“Breathin’” by Ariana Grande

Another track from the album “Sweetener,” this song is a great one to jam to when you’re feeling a little (or a lot) overwhelmed. Midterms are on their way, and sometimes it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. If you’re feeling like you can’t focus, or you’re unsure how to succeed, this song will remind you to just keep breathin’!

“Bye Bye Bye” by NSYNC

If you’ve had enough of the stress that comes with having all this pressure placed on you, tell it goodbye! As cheesy as it may sound, if you turn the situation around and have a little bit of fun, you’ll return to your work feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle any task. So go ahead and belt this one out.

When you’re feeling unmotivated

“Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Glee Cast

This song is a classic when it comes to picking yourself up and proving nothing is going to stop you. There will be times when you’ll face obstacles, or you just won’t feel like doing anything at all. Turn on this show tune and remind yourself that absolutely nothing and no one can slow you down!

“Hall of Fame” by The Script

Finally, what better motivation that reminding yourself of all the great things you can accomplish if you put your all into your school work, relationships, etc. This song is great because it lists off all the reasons you should try your hardest, most of all because you can be a champion in a hall of fame. While you might not literally strive to be in a hall of fame, it’s important to strive to be your best and never lose sight of your end goals!
