If you have been keeping up with this wild ride of an election, you most likely know that Planned Parenthood has become a part of Trump’s political agenda. Since RBG’S passing (bless her and everything she did), Trump is pushing to install a new Supreme Court Justice before the election, Amy Coney Barrett. Barrett has a long record of hostility towards reproductive rights, and many fear our health care would be greatly threatened. Personally, this is one of the SEVERAL reasons I am voting. This is literally a direct jeopardization of reproductive and sexual freedom for anyone, but many fail to see the benefits that Planned Parenthood gives. Just to clear up any misconceptions, Planned Parenthood ISN’T JUST FOR ABORTIONS! This nonprofit also provides birth control, contraceptives, general health care for all genders, STD services, education, and more. The resources Planned Parenthood provides are available for all ages and genders at very affordable costs. So basically, Planned Parenthood is just a bomb ass federation that is doing major good for our country.

Now to discuss Amy Coney Barett. If confirmed onto the Supreme Court, there is a very likely possibility that she would support the overturn of Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade is the milestone decision of the Supreme Court that ruled that the Constitution protects a woman’s right to have an abortion. If this is overturned, individual states will be able to decide whether abortion is legal. This action would give 10 states the ability to ban abortion through “trigger laws,” which are laws that are unenforceable in the present but may become enforceable if a key change in circumstances occurs. Take a second and breathe that in, it is some scary shit. This could impact millions of people.

Before I close this article out, I just wanted to throw in a fun fact: Planned Parenthood is NOT “funded” by the federal government. This means that if Planned Parenthood is “defunded,” patients who use public health care programs would no longer be able to access the services provided. These patients would be blocked from using Planned Parenthood for their health care needs. The Trump-Pence administration is attempting to take several steps towards the complete shutdown of Planned Parenthood. These attacks on sexual health care and reproductive rights can be stopped by voting. If this information has not made you completely set on where your vote is going, I’d suggest re-reading.
