Transform Your Summer Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

We’re so lucky to be attending UC Davis, located in sunny California. I saw a lot of people go to the beach in their bikinis, explore San Francisco in cute summer dresses, and take selfies on a road trip in cute shorts, tanks, and sunglasses.

However, here in Davis we’re also familiar with the colder months. While fall isn’t exactly the coldest, I know that when I wake up for my 8 a.m. class that I’ll need to bring a sweater. But don’t worry! You won’t have to bury your summer clothes yet. Just incorporate some fall pieces to your summer pieces and you’ll be ready to handle the transition from summer to autumn!

1.  Jean jacket

This piece is a must-have for any season, but it’s truly perfect for fall weather. Throw on your jean jacket over any outfit to stay warm in the chilly mornings and blasting A.C. When the sun’s heat emerges in the afternoon, tie it around your waist or throw it in your backpack!

2. Tights

Don’t say goodbye to the summer shorts! Wear some tights underneath your shorts, dresses, and skirts for some extra warmth. If it’s really cold, you can wear some tights under your jeans and take them off if it gets too hot.

3. Layer your clothes

Don’t forget to layer! This is possibly the most important thing in fall. Want to wear a sleeveless dress but it’s too cold? Throw on a long sleeve underneath and a jacket over it. Still too cold? Throw on a scarf. Your feet cold? Extra socks. Legs cold? Try out my tights tip! The perfect thing about layering is that you can always take some off as needed.

Have fun experimenting and incorporating your summer pieces into your fall wardrobe!
