Summer is about a month away, how exciting! Sunny days, UV at its peak and no school!

I love the summer, not only because we’re out of school for break, but because you get to do so many things that can boost your serotonin. There is something so rewarding about the sun being out to its fullest. You’re able to enjoy your days to their fullest and soak in every moment. While we’re here, I am going to give you a list of things to do to have a perfect summer day.

Tanning. Yes. Whether that is at your local pool, beach, or even in your backyard, tanning can be relaxing and simply soaking in the sun. But, remember to wear sunscreen of course. Typically once everyone is home for the summer, people tend to stay in bed. Or most are on their devices out of boredom, in which they don’t get enough sun. By tanning, you’re not only being stylish but you’re getting vitamin D as well.

Second on the list would be getting acai bowls. They are so delicious, and after a quick tanning session sometimes the hunger builds up. Getting some acai bowls with your friends would be the perfect next step—it keeps you refreshed, and them being yummy is just a bonus! Or, if you’re not a big fan of acai bowls, there is always an iced coffee or matcha to enjoy. Preferably, an iced vanilla latte for me!

After the acai bowls, you and your friends need to have a jam sesh. Car rides with the windows rolled down and just feeling the warm breeze is such a happy feeling. So, this summer, make sure to blast music to the fullest and sing your hearts out. Some song recommendations would be “We are the People” by Empire Of The Sun, “Looking Out for You” by Joy Again, “Cigarette Daydreams” by Cage The Elephant—the list could go on and on, but these are just a few.

By then, the sun should be setting, so what better way to end the day than by watching the pretty sunset and making some s’mores, all while projecting a classic movie. Enjoying all the pretty colors it creates, and simply enjoying the state of stillness is the perfect way to end your night. These are just some ideas of how to spend your summer days as the season fast approaches. As long as you enjoy the nice weather and remain happy, that is all that matters.

Hello readers!

I am Jessica Garza, a current junior at UC Davis who's studying Political Science with a focus on Public Service. At the UCD Her Campus chapter, I am part of the Social Media Content Creator team! This role has been part of my growth in my editing/content skills and has allowed me to voice creative ideas. A little more about me: I love trying new coffee shops, and I would say that's one of my guilty pleasures. I love watching rom-coms, and overall a big movie watcher. I enjoy taking nature walks and going out with friends. I am a big yapper, which I hope to use these communication skills in my future career working in the government/law field.
