Age:  19

Major: Political Science

Where are you from?

 Santa Clarita

Favorite things about Davis?

I love the trees. Nature is really pretty.

Describe yourself in three words?

Outgoing, Opinionated, Dedicated.

What are you involved with on campus?

I am involved with ASUCD, more specifically the Internal Affairs Commission.

For those who don’t know, what is ASUCD?

It stands for Associated Students of the University California Davis. It’s essentially the student government on campus that consists of elected officers and appointed positions and committees. We are here to give an organized voice to the students of this campus. We allocate ASUCD’s $13 million dollar budget that we have per year to use for the students.

What events are important for ASUCD? What do you do to provide for the students of UC Davis?

ASUCD elections are very important. Senators are elected every fall and winter quarter. Presidents and Vice Presidents are elected every winter quarter. Student votes are really important because they have the power to influence decisions made on this campus. You can apply for internships and job opportunities with ASUCD. I interned for the president last year, and that is how I got my start here. ASUCD also provides KDVS, Experimental College, The Pantry, Campus post offices, Aggie Reuse Store, Positive Advocacy and Student Representation, and Aggie TV. The Entertainment Council puts on all of the concerts on the quad. Picnic Day and the Whole Earth Festival are organized by ASUCD. If you are a freshman, you can rent a refrigerator from our services!

What made you decide to get involved with ASUCD? What do you do with the organization?

I’ve always had an interest in student government and I really wanted to give back to the Davis campus. I thought that ASUCD would be a really good way to do that. I didn’t realize how much this organization does for its students. I work for the Internal Affairs Commission. The Internal Affairs commission deals with any legislation to do with the internal affairs of ASUCD. We also work with LRP (long range plans) with each unit director. Any bills and by laws for ASUCD go to us before the Senate. We vote and recommend the bills to the elected officers. There is a commission for everyone here, everyone should consider being a part of it.

What are your hopes for the future?

After graduation I am planning to take a year off to travel or join the Peace Corp. Then I plan on going to law school.

Make sure to keep an eye out for ASUCD election information. Student votes are important.

In addition to this, applications for senate positions in ASUCD are due Monday, October 19th at 5 pm at the Student Government Administrative Office (SGAO). You can pick up the application from here as well, and make sure to get 125 signatures for eligibility before turning it in!
