Incoming Aggies: Which Dorm is Right for You?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

It’s that time of year again! UC Davis gets to welcome a wonderful group of wide-eyed, excited Aggies into our community this Fall. Before they join us on our beautiful campus, they have tons of important, overwhelming decisions to make including which of the three sets of dorms they want to call home. So class of 2020, how do you know which dorm is right for you? Look no further than this handy Her Campus guide to help you choose:

Segundo

Pros: Close to humanity and social science classes, close to the ARC (gym), nearby Rite Aid and U Mall, built-in wifi

Cons: Less privacy

Segundo is perfect for you if you’re a gym nut and/or non-hard science major who values convenience. It’s a reasonable walk from the main area of campus and easily accessible by bike.

Tercero

Pros: New buildings, close to hard science classes, built-in wifi, close to Rec Pool

Cons: Smell of cow poop, less privacy, (subjectively) worst dining commons

Tercero’s calling your name if you’re a hard science major who needs easy access to your classes. While the smell of manure can seep into the dorms, the new buildings more than make up for it.

Cuarto

Pros: living room in suite-style living, private bathrooms, close to U Mall, pools in 2/3 of the buildings (accessible to all), park nearby

Cons: further from campus, outdoors (bad for rainy days), individual wifi router needed

Cuarto is perfect for you if you value your privacy and space. Although it’s known as the least social of living quarters, it’s also one of the most comfortable. Besides, if you really want to make the effort to make more friends, Cuarto’s set-up won’t stand in your way! Bonus: Emerson (one of the Cuarto buildings) is often ranked in lists citing the nicest dorms in the US!

Come back next week for another edition of Incoming Aggies where we help you decide which meal plan can help accommodate your lifestyle!
