Are Boys Really That Cool?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

Some girls have the tendency to freak out a little when they see or talk to their crush. You get butterflies, your hands get clammy, and you may get a little tongue tied around the person. However, did it ever cross your mind that the guy might feel the same way about seeing you?

It’s unfortunate that some guys don’t feel comfortable talking about how they feel in certain situations. Sometimes men are raised to not talk about their feelings because it’s not viewed as “manly,” so others may not really know what’s going on inside their heads. Once they do open up, you realize that they are just like girls when it comes to how they think about the person they’re attracted to.

1. They Overthink Things Too

You may think that they are the only ones who over analyze a conversation, a text, or an expression, but trust me, some guys do it too. Sometimes they read into things too much, they worry about not knowing where they stand, and even stress over what to say when responding to a message.

2. They Get Nervous Around You

The butterflies in your stomach aren’t necessarily a one-way thing. Some boys may come off as really smooth, but they don’t always have it together. If they are nervous around you too, they are probably thinking, “Crap I hope there’s nothing in my teeth” or, “What if I say something stupid?!”

3. They are Afraid of Getting Rejected

Regardless of your gender, fear of rejection can sometimes get the best of you. Many guys are afraid to “make the first move” because they are afraid of getting turned down. If you like someone, it’s important to drop little hints that you are interested so they can feel a little less intimidated too. Or better yet, you can take the initiative and make the first move!
