6 Reasons to Thank the Quarter System

These past nine weeks have been difficult for a lot of us, but I think the quarter system here at UC Davis is vastly underappreciated. There are six reasons to actually be grateful for it:

1. While the quarter system can feel like a mad rush to get everything done, it truly does force you to get your act together. There’s no other option than to be productive!

2. It teaches you how to prioritize. Between your classes, internship, job, social life, and sleep, you’re learning what’s most important to you.

3. If you hate a class, it’s only ten weeks of your life!

4. You appreciate your breaks so much more than you used to. Even though Thanksgiving break is miniscule, you’re going to love every minute that you’re not doing schoolwork.

5. Since everyone is going through the same thing, there’s a sense of unity among you and all of your classmates.

6. At the end of the quarter, you always feel like you’ve achieved the impossible and conquered all of your classes.

There’s only one more week of classes and a week of finals. Then it’s time for a well-deserved winter break. Keep working hard, collegiettes!
