4 Ways to Sacramento International Airport

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

The excitement is building among the students of UC Davis, because Thanksgiving break is quickly approaching. For many, home is a car or train ride, but for some of us, it is plane ride away. Here are four ways to get to Sacramento International Airport to catch your flight home!

1) Unitrans

If your flight is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26th, Unitrans is your new best friend. On that day, Unitrans will be supplementing the usual Yolobus route, 42A, to the airport from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The bus will run hourly, leaving from the Memorial Union, and the fare is showing your Aggie ID card. Be prepared for a twenty-five to thirty minute bus ride!

2) Yolobus

If Unitrans is not your new best friend, you also have the option of taking the Yolobus route, 42A, on the other days. The service begins at 4:55 AM, and comes again at 5:55 AM. After that, it comes every half hour and with the multiple bus stops, it can be a thirty to forty-five minute ride. The bus picks up the Memorial Union and it is a two dollar fare. With the fare, make sure to have exact change to make it easier to pay the machine and not be the person holding up the line. You can find the bus schedule online by searching: “Yolobus 42A Route.”

3) UC Davis Ride Share Facebook Page

If you have not already joined this page, you should join, especially if you are from Southern California! People are constantly heading down for weekend trips, and looking for people to help with the cost of gas. For holidays breaks, it is a great way to find a ride to the airport. Many people either offer for a certain price to take you, or they post when they are going so others can join them. Keep in mind, this option will be more expensive than the bus. On a side note, you may find someone driving down to your area, and you can hitch ride with them. Don’t worry! You won’t lose your airfare, most airlines just credit your account with the price you paid, to apply to a future ticket. So, keep that in mind, because driving down is a lot cheaper than flying!

4) Supershuttle

The final and most expensive option for making your way to the airport would be Supershuttle. This service is a carpool van that you can book online on their website, supershuttle.com. For one way, it is twenty-four dollars, and they pick up right at your door. You are able to choose from multiple times, but be ready to make multiple stops to pick up others, and be crammed next to the strangers. Also, be ready to make conversation with the driver, because they tend to be really talkative. Supershuttle is expensive, but it tends to be a popular option for those parents that are nervous about you getting to and from the airport.

Safe journey, Aggies!
