10 Thoughts When Posting on Instagram

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

Social media has taken over the lives of millions of Millennials. You may know this firsthand because you may even be one of those million (I know I am). Personally, I have found that using social media helps me stay tuned in with the ongoings of friends and family. However, I will admit that it is sometimes easy to get a little carried away. So, here are 10 thoughts you may relate to when posting an Instagram:

1. First question (either to your group chat or to yourself): Is this insta-worthy?

2. What filter looks best? I mean, what look am I going for?

3. Do you think anyone will notice I wore this outfit 5 posts ago?

4. What should my caption be? An inspirational quote? A singular emoji?

5. Should I tag my location or should I keep them guessing?

6. Is it prime-time to post? Shit, do I post it now? Okay, I posted it. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill.

7. (When no one has liked it in one minute) NO ONE’S LIKED IT DO I DELETE IT?

8. Wanting to personally thank and hug the first few people who like your photo

9. The feeling of relief when you hit 11 likes and are officially out of the danger zone

10. Mentally putting people who did not like your post on your hit-list
