This Tuesday, Marvel finally dropped the teaser trailer for the long awaited film, The Marvels.

The Marvels is the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, which focused on the origin story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and how she ended up becoming one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest heroes.

Based on the trailer so far, it seems that Carol will now be sharing the spotlight with two other Marvels: Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). This is ultimately because whenever either of the three of the respective Marvels use their powers, they end up switching places with each other! The trailer also shows us that because of all of the location switching, the three end up uniting with each other in order to stop villains that seem to be threatening everyone in the universe.

Personally, I am super excited for this film because it signifies a lot of firsts for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is the first time we will be seeing Kamala Khan on the big screen, and the first time we will be seeing Monica Rambeau as a main character (the two were previously in Disney Plus shows, Ms. Marvel and Wandavision. Monica also had a very small side character role in the first Captain Marvel film). This also means that it will be Iman Vellani’s first time acting in a film, ever (and she’s already killing it). Moreover, this film may also rope K-drama fans in too, as this will be long time K-drama star Park Seojoon’s Marvel debut. Additionally, this is also the very first Marvel film to ever be directed by a black woman, Nia DaCosta, who is known for her directing on Candyman.

I am also excited because this film means a lot in terms of the long term consequences for the MCU. In both Captain Marvel and WandaVision, we see that Monica Rambeau has become estranged from Carol Danvers, despite them both being very good friends in the past. Now, they will have to work together, which gives me hope that they can be friends again. Plus, I am so excited to see how Kamala Khan will be the glue that holds the Marvels together with sunshine personality and her eagerness to be a great hero and help out whenever she can.

The Marvels will be on the big screens on November 10th, 2023, and I can’t wait to be in the opening night line for it
