The month of October is nearing its end, and soon we will say goodbye to the ghouls, witches and monsters to make way for the turkey and stuffing. If you still find yourself looking for a good scare there are plenty of great haunted houses and mazes no more than an hour away. Rather than going to an overpriced theme park to get your fright on these Halloween events are more friendly to your collegiate budget and they are just as scary!

1. The Blumhouse of Horrors

From the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes a haunted house taking place in Downtown Los Angeles. Located in the 88-year-old Variety Arts theater, 40 actors run wild to scare its patrons for a sum starting at $29 from now until November 3rd.

2. Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary

Come aboard onto the Queen Mary in Long Beach to be witness to a haunted spectacle on the shore. Tickets start at $24 dollars from now until November 2nd.

3. The Haunted Hayride at Griffith Park

One of the most talked about hauntings in the LA area is the Haunted Hayride. Starting at $25, this attraction takes you into the dark and into the “real” haunted grounds of Griffith Park. This year marks its 5th annual haunting and to celebrate a new 25 minute experience has been added during this year’s theme “Based on Actual Events”.
